India’s forex reserves and the rupee are back in focus. India’s foreign-exchange reserves recently fell to around $765.9 billion, while the RBI has been using foreign-exchange interventions and swaps to manage liquidity and support the rupee. Reuters also reported that the rupee remained under pressure from high crude-oil prices and global financial conditions. But one important point: a fall in reserves does not by itself mean India is heading toward bankruptcy.
