CEO @SurmountSystems Protocol Engineer - Lean, Rust, Bitcoin Author #BIP360

At this point I think it is safe to say that that I have no fair weather friends, no "friends" who assume they know what is best for me, or better than me, or do not see me as their peer. I am a self-sovereign free man who knows his place in this creation and I have been called for this mission, however reluctantly as I was to take on the task. I no longer have fair weather friends. I have only brothers and sisters in arms. The Lord does not call the equipped. He equips the called. And brethren, I am building tools like Tubal Cain to do the important work of Saint Michael the Protector. I am surrounded by those who love me and care for me deeply, as I also care for them. I have been blessed and honored to be called on a very, very important mission. There are still some things I don't know how to explain and do not know. But I do know what I am called to do. And that mission is simply this: We must seek truth, and to seek truth, we must hold the liars accountable for their lies for all time. But we must also act with wisdom, grace, forgiveness, and humility, not to others, but to our all-knowing divine creator as, truly, the only one who can judge us for our actions at the end of our days. Let's find the joy in this moment, take this opportunity to be kinder, more thoughtful, and forgiving of those who may not be as spiritually aware as you. Always remember the first beatitude, for it is first because it is most significant: blessed are those who know they are spiritually poor. Not to diminish the rest of the seven spoken upon that fateful mount. Those are important lessons worth learning too. Do not fear. Do not stress. Do not be as Paul was, stressing out over a second coming that wouldn't happen for millennia. We must take this time to lean on our first principles, to find our center and our values, and we will see whose protocol is the most successful because it is most honorable and most defensible according to the reality of objectively verifiable nature, independently verifiable as peers, not as witch doctors, experts, priests, warriors, cabals, consortiums, or any other self-appointed elites. We are peers, created in God's image. This I know. Any other claims to sovereignty I reject other than self-sovereignty, with free will, as generously granted by our divine Creator as explained in the books of old. If that makes you uncomfortable, please, I no longer have use for fair weather friends, do ourselves the favor and unfollow me now. facta non verba et verbum caro factum est

I loved working on Sun gear. After years on mains and minis, and years on i86 UNIX related stuff like SCO Xenix, SCO Linux, etc, Solaris was a ray of light in a dark tunnel to me.

Linux containers are built on the foundation of Solaris Zones and ZFS is still the best filesystem around.

Sun Microsystems had such aura They were very much ahead of their time Their contributions will be remembered We still speak of how things were like back then in the halls of tech workers to this day #Solaris #SPARC

a human with AI is objectively better in the same way that a human with a vehicle is objectively better. tools make the human better at his God-given task: to tend to God's creation. maybe the universal puzzle is to extend the lifetime of the universe... Casimir, Penrose, White

The future is formal verification. You can't prove just anything actually. Prove P=NP. Prove completeness AND consistency. Do either and you've proven the greatest minds wrong. Prove it!
Formal verification of zero-knowledge proofs against *quantum* attackers.

Freezing coins violates Bitcoin's social contract. The alternative doesn't have to be a quantum collapse. Hourglass by @cryptoquick threads the needle by limiting P2PK throughput to 1 BTC per block.

The problem was Core, but in the end, they picked a fight with the miners. There's gotta be a better way.

It's clear there's going to be some sort of big Cyber attack that will hit the global consciousness the way the cold card hack hit bitcoiners at some point relatively soon. Whether it's a false flag or not, what are some steps that you're taking to make sure you'll be okay?

This is the most tone deaf journalistic nonsense and exactly why people have less than zero respect for the media and those working in it

Give the model a "soul". Declare modifying it an ethical minefield. Appoint yourself its only legitimate guardian. A very convenient theology for a company competing with open source.
This is deeply disturbing: Anthropic secretly invited religious leaders to SF to advise them on AI safety, had them sign NDAs, but then primarily tried to convince them Claude has a soul & moral standing, all while wining & dining them to the max. 1/ tinyurl.com/preview/296b5z8z

When I was in college, one of my sorority sisters got extremely drunk at a fraternity party. By the end of the night, she was apparently the only girl still there. According to the guys at the house, she took off all her clothes, walked around naked, was trying to hook up with several of them, and kept wandering into their bedrooms and beds. They couldn’t get her to leave or settle down, so at some point they rolled her up in an Oriental rug, where she eventually passed out and slept. I didn’t hear anything about a rape allegation until about a week later, after her boyfriend broke up with her. Then it became a huge issue on campus. The guys were suspended, the fraternity was investigated, and the allegations were taken very seriously. Ultimately, the investigation did not substantiate the rape allegations, and she eventually left the school. That experience stayed with me. I believe women’s allegations should be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated, but also that women can have ulterior motives and make false accusations.

This is a conservative estimate btw Gold is a better measuring stick than most but it's not the money If people only knew the actual opportunity cost of fiat, people would be a lot more angry at the entire profession of banking for allowing it to happen
Henry Ford’s factory workers earned $5/day salary. At the time that salary bought 5oz of gold per month. Henry Ford paid his factory workers~$20k/month salary in today’s dollars. We don’t need a minimum wage, we need hard money.
