i’ve spent enough time just learning rust. now i want to build something that makes people notice. finally picked the project i’m going all in on. not revealing it yet, but this one’s serious. rust at the core, built in public, and way beyond anything i’ve built before. i’ll log everything i do on @AkagamiRust37 . not using ai to build it either, so yeah, it’ll take time. that’s the whole point i want to come out of this way better at rust and engineering. trying to push a real version around oct–nov. worst case, it drops on my birthday. I asked Claude Opus 5.5 to shoot a bullet in a water balloon. It wrote the physics, ray traced it, screenshotted its own work, gave itself a 2/10, and refused to stop. A bullet goes through a water balloon at 360 m/s, and you can freeze it at any millisecond and walk around it. What's actually being simulated: >the rubber tearing back from both bullet holes within a few milliseconds >the water holding the balloon's shape after the rubber is gone >the tunnel the bullet punched through the water collapsing >spray and mist blasting out of the exit hole >the whole blob drifting forward, because the bullet shoved it >the splash, the puddle, and the light bending through every bit of it Every ray of light bends when it enters the water and again when it leaves. That's why the full balloon works like a lens and warps the grid behind it. Then you get to break it. Change the bullet speed, the calibre, where it hits, the gravity, the balloon size, how fast the rubber snaps, the lighting.
