From my interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders:
Sen. Bernie Sanders tells CBS News’ @CHueyBurns he believes “the potential danger of AI is probably greater than nuclear weapons." Asked whether his proposed penalties of up to 20 years in prison for violating a ban on developing artificial superintelligence are comparable to penalties for illegally developing nuclear weapons, Sanders (I-VT) says, “The analogy is appropriate, exactly.”

In response to new 60 Minutes story on pardons, Senator Chuck Schumer says: “All of this will be investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted when Democrats retake Congress in November.”
Donald Trump is selling pardons in a scheme that amounts to bribery – something he’s very familiar with (see: buying Americans' votes for $5,000). But is anyone surprised? He will sell ANYTHING and sell out ANYONE to make himself and his family richer. This is just the latest example. All of this will be investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted when Democrats retake Congress in November.

Brett Tolman has ties in Trump’s orbit. He was overheard by @cbsnews telling a pardon seeker that he (@tolmanbrett) expects to work on "40 or 50" clemency cases in Trump's 2nd term & expects to be successful in more than 2/3 of them. cbsnews.com/news/trump-pardo…

I wrote about Wohl and Burkman in 2019 when an ex-U.S. Marine claimed a long term sexual affair with Sen. Warren. The Marine said he was a combat veteran of Afghanistan, serving there in 2012. The Marines said he didn’t have any overseas deployments and didn’t join until 2014. newsweek.com/ex-marine-who-c…

Rapper Boosie Badazz tells Lesley Stahl that he was led to believe that if he gave $600,000, he would be issued a pardon. He was promised that Laura Loomer, Erika Kirk, Mike Johnson and Natalie Harp would advocate for his pardon. "I just thought this is they way it's done." Boosie is now suing the pardon broker in an attempt to recover at least half of the money.

In the United States, commercial surrogacy — paying a woman to have fertilized eggs implanted in her uterus so she can carry a pregnancy to term — is widely assumed to be closely regulated. But a yearlong CBS News investigation found that few, if any, meaningful protections exist for surrogates. Correspondent Katrina Kaufman examines the extraordinary cases of surrogates who say they experienced troubling practices in the booming U.S. industry.

“You can't blame people who want to get out of prison for doing what they're told works. But I can blame the people who are making that the system,” says law professor Mark Osler. Osler says the pardon system ultimately “falls on the administration.”
