This is beyond disappointing. Mumbai’s ₹14000 crore Coastal Road already looks like patchwork. I feel betrayed—this was supposed to be world-class infrastructure. L&T and BMC must be held accountable. Is this what we paid for? #Mumbai #CoastalRoad #InfrastructureFail

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN MUMBAI? Look at this. A giant, grotesque political banner has been put up right on a main road in Worli, in broad daylight, completely taking over public space. Seriously, how does this even happen? Do people just walk in, put up whatever enormous banner they want, and leave? And then BMC has to spend OUR MONEY taking this crap down? What happens to the people who put it up? Who pays for the removal? Who gets fined? Who is held accountable? @mybmc @MumbaiPolice

Dear Ganpati Bappa, I pray that you punish those who deface and destroy our beautiful city in your name. Your name should bring people together, not be an excuse to cover Mumbai in banners, posters and political faces. Mumbai deserves better. 🙏🏽

The British left us an architectural marvel. We turned it into a shady dance bar with RGB lights. @mybmc who approved this monstrosity? 😭

The fucking state of our city right now. I dread every festival because the moment one arrives, our entire city gets swallowed by political banners, cutouts and flex. Not a single street left to breathe. We deserve better than this visual pollution.

Visited Budapest earlier this year. Look at how they light up their buildings. Just warm yellow light, letting the architecture speak for itself. Meanwhile, Indian babus see a building and immediately reach for the disco lights.

Can someone please tell me what happened to this goon standing next to Eknath Shinde after he ransacked an entertainment venue ?

The British planned this with the footpath wider than the road. 100 years later, we’re still trying to figure out how to make cities for people. BMC, widen the footpaths. 📍 Eros Theatre, Churchgate, Mumbai

Pole after pole. Banner after banner. Right outside Mantralaya. And there is heavy police presence here. Political parties have covered an entire stretch of public infrastructure with these banners, and nobody seems to have stopped them. That’s the part that really gets me. They had the confidence to do this openly because they knew nobody would question them. If ordinary citizens did this, would they be given the same treatment? @mybmc @MumbaiPolice @CMOMaharashtra @AshwiniBhide

Imagine paying premium rent for a prime commercial space in Dadar TT, only to have your entire frontage blocked year round by Amey Ghole’s giant banner. @AmeyGhole this is in your ward. Who’s paying for these banners? Who approved this? And who is allowing them to stay up year after year? Shameful. @mybmc @MumbaiPolice

Pole after pole plastered with Amit Shah banners in Mumbai. BMC? Mumbai Police? High Court orders? Where the fuck are you? Put up one banner as a normal citizen and watch how quickly the rules apply. But political banners? Apparently a different law. @mybmc @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice @MahaPolice

The CJP protest isn’t just about one issue. It’s the voice of young people who are fed up with the complete lack of accountability. As citizens of Mumbai, we’re tired of broken footpaths, potholes, encroachments, garbage, illegal banners, poor planning, and trees collapsing because of reckless concretisation. Every year it’s the same story, and no one is ever held responsible. No one is sacked. No one is accountable. The day accountability becomes the norm, people will fall in line and this city will improve. This isn’t about supporting Congress or opposing the BJP. I’m not Gen Z. I’m a proud Hindu, and I’m asking for one thing: accountability from the government. Mumbai doesn’t have an infrastructure problem as much as it has an accountability problem.

Same town. Two roads. Left: Newly concretised. Right: Existing asphalt. Which one would you rather drive on?

This looks less like urban planning and more like someone got paid per bollard. What is the actual explanation for this? 📍Dadar TT, Mumbai. @CMOMaharashtra @mybmc @AshwiniBhide @AmeyGhole

The real problem is how quickly people defend poor planning instead of asking for better planning. Pedestrians shouldn’t have to pay the price for failures in enforcement.

This ancient, iconic banyan tree stood here long before most of us were born. Today, it’s gone. Mumbai’s unnecessary obsession with road concretisation is slowly killing its trees.
We just lost an iconic banyan. What is happening to our trees? 💔😪 Location: LD Ruparel Marg Malabar Hill
