The Einstein test: what happens when AI tries to rediscover relativity? nature.com/articles/d41586-0… ✍️ Philip Ball via @Nature 👉 The article examines whether language models trained on historical data can independently replicate monumental creative breakthroughs in physics. 👉 The feature explores a retrospective benchmark to see if the system can shift from accelerating pattern recognition to independently formulating radical concepts like the equivalence principle and curved spacetime. 💡 By framing scientific creativity around the complex, long chains of conceptual reasoning that led to general relativity, Ball establishes a brilliant and necessary benchmark that moves the evaluation of AI past simple equation-solving or raw data ingestion. @Corix_JC @SonuMonika @TheAIObserverX @maponi @JagersbergKnut @ahier @ChuckDBrooks @Shi4Tech @CEO_AISOMA @sallyeaves @EchoofLight11 @dinisguarda @TarakRindani @FrRonconii @Nicochan33 @Khulood_Almani @TysonLester @SusanHayes_ @EstelaMandela @JoannMoretti @sulefati7 @FernandaKellner @pchamard @NeiraOsci @darioandriani @ALouiseLavalett @Fabriziobustama @amalmerzouk @mikeflache @RLDI_Lamy @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @PVynckier @chidambara09 @sminaev2015 @NathaliaLeHen @MHcommunicate @Analytics_699 @DanielleLargier

Can we trust an AI agent to change a live network? Telecom is moving toward autonomous networks, but agentic AI can only act safely if the data beneath it is trusted, contextual and governed.
Article

The Biggest Obstacle to Autonomous Networks May Not Be AI. It May Be Data.

An AI agent identifies a network problem, determines the likely cause and recommends the fix in seconds. But the information it is working with is fragmented across different systems, network domains

💥 Google DeepMind develops Invisible Watermarks for AI-Designed Proteins 📍 Al provenance is crossing the boundary from the digital into the physical world. #SyntheticBiology #AI #Biosecurity @TheRundownAI
Google just brought AI watermarking into the physical world. DeepMind embedded detectable signatures in AI-designed proteins, and they still worked after being made in a lab. The goal is to let DNA makers check that a design came from an AI model with safety guardrails:

🌹Leonardo’s “Saper Vedere” - A Renaissance Blueprint for AI 🤖 Al's next leap will not come from more computation but from synthesis, the ability to connect disciplines, which Leonardo da Vinci’s “Saper Vedere” embodies. Thank you @dinisguarda for sharing this brilliant analogy! #AI #FutureOfAI #Humanity

Whoa, hadn't heard of Saper Vedere before. Leonardo was blending art and engineering centuries ago, which makes for a great way to think about AI. I wonder what other old ideas we'll be mining for the future of tech?

🧠 Surprisingly Complex Waves Reveal the Brain’s Inner Workings 📍Unexpected patterns traveling across the cortex may be reorganizing its activity in real time 📍Traveling waves may be a fundamental organizing principle of cortical computation - enabling the brain to flexibly reconfigure itself on the timescale of thought. 💥They could be the missing link between static anatomy and dynamic cognition. By @QuantaMagazine #Neuroscience #TravelingWaves 👉 x.lingyaoai.com/evankirstel/status/210… @EvanKirstel Design: Mark Belan/Quanta Magazine
Brain waves do more than pulse in rhythm. Researchers recorded from about 100 electrodes per brain region in epilepsy patients and found waves that spiral like hurricanes, spread out from one spot or close in on another, and the pattern changes with the memory task. Good read from @QuantaMagazine. Great topic for @techimpactTV quantamagazine.org/surprisin…

IT JUST GETS BETTER I always look forward to hearing about Huawei’s technological developments, a company I have admired for years. This year, in May, we heard about the Tau (τ) Scaling Law, Then, last month was the launch of the tri-foldable Huawei Mate XT2 | ULTIMATE DESIGN. Today is the launch of the #HUAWEI Mate90 Series. What a follow up. And it just gets better with the Mate90 Pro Max featuring an optional Z10 modular #camera creating a completely new experience in mobile imaging. But what really makes the Mate90 Pro Max stand out is the complementary fusion of the Mate and the powerful Kirin 9050Pro chip. The Kirin 9050Pro chip exploits the logic folding architecture associated with the Tau (τ) Scaling Law. This results in 238 million chips per square mm!!! More significant is the number of direct signal paths enabled by vertical interconnects. This results in a vastly reduced transmission time and hence latency. Moreover, this translates into the improved performance of the CPU, GPU, NPU and the ISP. To add to this, is the Mobile Security Processor (MSP), which embraces post quantum cryptography. Overall, this is Huawei’s most powerful chip offering to-date and the pace of development is incredible. I am curious as to what might be released in 2030. However, one feature that always attracts me to Huawei’s smartphone is its XMAGE camera system. The elegance of the phrase “Perceiving the world, gathering light into imagery” captures the elegance of this system. It includes both an 8EV ultra-high-dynamic-range main camera and a 200MP telephoto camera. Supporting this are both its True to Colour system and its continuous variable aperture systems. What is transformative is the optional Z10 modular #camera, which locks onto the phone with a twist, converting the smartphone into a camera. In just over a decade, Huawei has made such progress in both #semiconductor and #communications #technology as well as in precision #manufacturing processes and software / operating system developments.
