Personal news: I’m joining @GSR_io as Head of Content and Special Projects. I’ve covered crypto since 2017, always drawn to market structure and how institutions shape this space. What started with bitcoin futures has evolved into a truly institutional market with real liquidity, access, and regulatory clarity. Now I get to help tell that story from the inside.

Robots might be coming for some jobs, but probably far fewer than the hype suggests. New research from Anthropic estimates current robotics could displace roughly 300,000 US jobs out of a workforce of ~160 million. The most vulnerable roles are concentrated in driving and operating machinery, where automation already works in relatively controlled environments.

The bigger constraint is not just whether a robot can perform a task. It is whether it can do it cheaply enough to make replacing a worker worthwhile. The paper estimates that even if robot costs fell 80%, only around 20% of physical work would become economically exposed. Turns out automating the real world is a much tougher problem than automating work on a screen.

oh? Cboe and S&P Dow Jones Indices are eyeing tokenization. The firms extended their exclusive S&P 500 licensing agreement through 2051 — and said they may collaborate on products beyond traditional index derivatives, including tokenized options contracts.

Very excited for @token2049 Singapore next week. I’ll be joining the stage for “Inside Crypto’s Trading Desks: The Market Outlook” to unpack the institutional adoption we’re seeing firsthand across GSR’s businesses — markets, asset management and advisory. See you in Singapore 🇸🇬

Super interesting via Glassnode This is the first Bitcoin bear market that never closed below Realized Price — meaning the average holder stayed in profit throughout the entire drawdown. Higher lows with a more resilient market structure

Two banger panels at TOKEN2049 Singapore next week and together they show how fast this industry is growing up. First, the reinvention of payments: PayPal, Fireblocks, MoonPay and Rain on the stablecoin boom, how crypto is speeding up the velocity of money, and the infrastructure making fiat-to-crypto seamless and invisible. Second, the institutionalization of crypto: Invesco, Coinbase Institutional and CME Group on what investors actually want from crypto today, the expanding product suite, and where institutional capital is flowing. See you in Singapore.

Yes, crypto is never exiting its speculation era But the point misses the bigger picture. Equities and most other assets are entering a historic age of speculation. Markets are becoming more gamified. Trading is becoming more social, more accessible and more embedded in people’s lives. Stocks are going to be just as “Wild West” as crypto if not more
A few weeks after @jerallaire said the industry is leaving its wild west history behind, a new platform @papertrade_xyz said it will offer up to 1,000x leverage. @izebel_eth chatted w me briefly on why leverage and speculation still matter bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

A few takeaways from a very active Korea Blockchain Week: • KBW is apparently Korea’s largest tech conference, and there’s a real push to expand it and bring more foreign capital and attention into the market • Korea’s crypto market feels set for significant growth. Retail participation is already massive, but the institutional infrastructure is still relatively undeveloped • The biggest gap is market structure. There aren’t many institutional market makers or custodians, and there isn’t a meaningful OTC market like we have in the U.S. I expect that to change significantly over the next few years • As that infrastructure gets built, one likely outcome is large Korean conglomerates adding crypto to their balance sheets, potentially allocating up to 10% as a diversification play • Upbit is the kingpin. Everyone wants to meet with them, but they’re extremely elusive and protective of their position in the market • Major U.S. investors were out in force, including a16z, signaling serious interest in backing Korean founders • Korea is incredibly clean, the food is amazing, people are very polite, and there’s a coffee shop on seemingly every corner • They love iced coffee. We’re aligned.

Another great conversation from the RWA Summit is featured on this week’s episode of @GSR_io's The Crypto Tape. This time with @itsbhaji, CEO and co-founder of @centrifuge — the team that started the RWA Summit back in 2023. Back then, she was pulling teeth to get TradFi in the room. Now, she’s working to get the DeFi builders back in. We got into: • Why asset managers now start with demand, not cost savings • How a $1B T-bill RFP got Janus Henderson’s flagship CLO strategy onchain • Vaults turning asset managers into onchain curators • A loyalty program where users never know crypto is behind the scenes • Why Centrifuge wants to convert its token into equity episode drops tomorrow

Bitcoin just posted its best quarter since the post-election surge. BTC climbed nearly 43% in Q3, its strongest quarterly gain since Q4 2024, when it rallied 47% following Donald Trump’s election victory.
