That’s cool, as long as it doesn’t get stuck on a bit of fallen debris, or have to drive through some uneven terrain, or you know .. withstand a large exposition.

I think the point is why are you selectively outraged here? In a tiny riscv or xtensa core that doesn’t have the processing power to do much of anything with raw IQ data?
Personally I believe closed firmware blobs for cards sitting on PCIe busses next to powerful CPUs and GPUs are a much greater risk.
And they’re typically closed blobs for regulatory reasons. A new firmware that touches any RF parameter requires a new FCC certification.
I hear that. I spent part of my career in robotics, but most of it in infosec.. the robotics and hardware itch has been strong recently, and a disinterest in infosec.
