Mental bandwidth is limited, and you cannot fight with it.
Rules to keep in mind:
1. Don’t fight.
2. Don’t push.
3. Don’t do everything.
The idea is:
Try to do 1 or 2 things daily and maximise the weekend.
I wake up and spend 1 hour learning, then I’m ready for the office gym. I can hit the gym in the evening, but I cannot study in the evening due to cognitive load.
Similar for content. I find gaps:
-
Lunch time.
-
Sitting idle.
-
I’ll just get my iPad out, start architecturing, brainstorming, etc.
You need to stop consuming and start creating + reduce your dopamine levels.
I usually stare at a wall for 20 minutes when I feel I’m getting distracted and can’t focus on work.
Small things + efficiency will do the job.
