funny scene for me in london last night i'm walking in soho towards my early dinner. it's 6pm. i'm walking past a place that from afar looks like it could be a restaurant but there's this massive line around the entrance. couldn't tell if it was a concert or some kind of sale. all the people in line are like in their 30s and 40s. maybe some in their 50s. and all professionally dressed on a narrow sidewalk with a beer in their hands (men and women)...waiting for something? I described this scene to my buddy at the end of the day trying to understand what this was and what they could be waiting in line for. he laughed and said that wasn't a line. they weren't waiting for anything. apparently pub culture in london has you stand outside with your beer if the weather is even remotely nice and i guess you have to be on the sidewalk to do so. they were all just hanging out. and everyone drinks beer very strange scene for me!

Great to see @jayyeh and other founders at Corgi Café in London today. Really enjoyed the event and the chance to talk about what I’m building with Energentic — a great opportunity to sharpen the story and practise the pitch. #londonmaxxing

great jam session with founders and their narratives at this morning's Dawn Patrol in Shoreditch repeating some of the lessons here: - so much of delivering a great pitch or narrative is setting context - you probably need to set way more context than you think. even vcs that focus on your space don't know enough to get excited. help them get excited - shorten your backstory. start when the bear is about to attack - if you're working in a well known problem space, your focus needs to shift to differentiating - narrative structures to choose from: 1) linear or 2) prove the ending ... decide which one will keep your audience engaged finally... biggest takeaway. share what you're working on and get feedback. community is awesome, build it, participate in it. thanks for spending time with me, london! p.s. appreciate you @claudiaamaggi for hosting :)

best part! i wasn't planning on sharing Timeline Jam with the group, but one founder was in gaming & another in music so it made sense i told people they needed to share their work more often so had to follow my own advice check out Timeline Jam. give it a 5⭐️ review pls! apps.apple.com/us/app/timeli…

and finally founder review. nice guy, sharp, hungry and doing a lot of the right things. i was impressed it actually feels like there are a lot of founders who have that speed and hunger and don't get as much community and peer based support/motivation as the founders do in SF, NYC, or LA. so if you can find the hungry ones they might have a ton of pent up potential. anyway ... only 1 data point, but going to meet more and more this week so i'm excited.

some exhilarating/harrowing notes from my first @limebike experience in london from primrose hill to fitzrovia first, i will say i'm an investor in and huge supporter of LIME. fantastic company and product but being an american in london made it probably more exciting than it is for most my notes: 1) riding around on the opposite side of the road is very trick. your brain goes into auto pilot even after reminding yourself over and over again. so right turns are death traps... 2) in london you can park in either direction. so it makes it even harder with #1. you can't trust any visual cues 3) london doesn't have the even addresses on one side and odd on the other side. i missed my address and had to go through # 1 and #2 more than i needed to haha

ruh roh. this photo is making me worried about my londonscone adventure that looks more like a dinner roll than a scone to me. my perception of a good scone might be wildly different than the british version..
Replying to @jayyeh
go to the top of the Shard and eat the scone there 😋
