you can do this at schiphol with privium as well, it's another great airport 7 minutes from train platform to the lounge including bag check a few weeks ago. Rotterdam airport too, you can even bike to your international flight!
sfo probably the only airport in the world where you can leave your house an hour and a half before your international flight and still have time to spare before boarding

i love apple products but this really sucks. i want to have access to my own data on my own machine! i want to develop apps that use that data *for me*, taking it out of all the fragmented silos of 1000 different messaging apps and putting it to work in one place.
Apple is very anti-big-liberation which means it has to collapse as a company within the next few years. Truly the next Nokia.

I think @signulll is broadly correct here; with one major addition: look at which countries have the state in control of the issuance of credit, their relative performance economically, and ability to weather strategic crises, especially in the context of Great Power competition The capitalist economies are prone to regular crises, especially in banking, but until now, this hasn't (significantly) eroded their global dominance. But now, China is rapidly ascendant, and due to their (superior) economic system and better planning, will weather a credit crisis far better than the US and Europe, who are already on shaky ground. Given that the US is essentially betting the house on AI saving us - which is heavily CapEx dependent - a credit slowdown has the potential to completely fuck up the AI rollout, and increase China's lead. The US is then caught in a contradiction: should it withdraw from the wars in the Middle East and concede Hormuz to Iran, solving the inflation & interest rate problem; or should it continue to engage in the Middle East, but at the cost of possibly losing the AI race to China for good.
what’s shocking is how few ppl realize how much of modern culture & behavior was almost entirely shaped by zirp, debt, & basically free money. when that fully unwinds the adjustment is going to be brutal. ppl have to go from an abundance mindset to suddenly realizing oh shit a lot of this was never actually sustainable. & now this might happen before ai super growth. imagine austerity in america, there would be riots because american pain tolerance below zero.

Got frustrated with Dots' lack of task persistence so am trying out Grok Bot. The initial Grok Bot experience makes Dot look a LOT better - the ratio of yelling at the agent to useful outcomes is much better with Dots, the model is clearly a lot smarter. Grok is making lots of really dumb choices/assumptions.

Muse seems polished but hard to connect to everything, doesn't seem to be easy to get it to connect to stuff on my Mac, vs Grok bot that runs locally? Plus, no iOS app if you're not on the US app store which is a big problem. Makes me think about if it's worth building an MCP layer to get all these agents to talk to each other...

Watching @dylan522p from @SemiAnalysis_ 's talk on compute and scaling. interesting stuff as an $IREN and $SLNH investor - i know Semi Analysis aren't fans of IREN especially; but it seems like their analysis is focused on the managed clouds as opposed to bare metal. The other big takeaways: - everyone is compute and power constrained. everyone is sold out. and demand is growing exponentially - reselling inference is wildly profitable still at current prices. there's a lot of room to grow - IRENs cost of capital is insanely low compared to everyone else including the "recommended" providers. as an investor this seems much more crucial than who is at the top of a table. tldr i still think that despite everything, $IREN is wildly undervalued and the market is being incredibly irrational here. still bullish for 2027 and onwards.

interesting take here from Ben and his pain points line up pretty close with mine too. hoping OpenAI can take the feedback and polish things up soon. im not quite as bearish on dots though, for me the fact that they're integrated with codex and my context there is a huge plus point. but agent performance is crucial.
The only real option in the "personal agent" space right now is Grok Bot. Been doing a lot with Dots. I do not like them. Dots are a total mess right now. 1) Having a single thread for everything sucks. They got it right first try with Grok Bot, I have zero clue why they wanted it to just be one thread (I do know why, it's because I'm not the target market for Dots but still I hate it) 2) It's slow. Very, very slow. 3) There's zero visibility into what it's actually doing. All u can see is the final short text message that Astra gives u (5-10 mins after asking something). Grok bot's pretty good about talking u through what it's doing and being pretty fast, Bot just isn't 4) The app(s) are a mess. The mobile app, the desktop app, they all have performance issues, weird ux things (like when ur not focusing the input box on desktop and type it doesn't auto focus), just an absurd number of paper cuts. It's weird b/c Cursor is just as bad about this kind of thing, but Grok Bot is absurdly polished 5) I have zero clue wtf this thing is doing. I woke up to a bunch of random codex threads doing god knows what in circles and I have zero trust for this thing if I'm gonna be honest. 6) Zero parallelization. No ability to run a bunch of stuff in parallel, take advantage of the thing Astra's unbelievable at (agent swarming), just one little thread with 5 subagents. I get that I'm not who this is built for. This isn't built for professionals or technical people. It's meant for someone to just chat with an AI and have that AI learn about them and do little useful things. The only one of these that you can do actual serious work on is Grok Bot right now. If you are employed or do anything useful, use Grok Bot. My read on the space right now is that Muse will dominate the bottom 90% b/c free IG distribution and it doesn't need to be good to do what 99% of people will use it for. Dot is in this bizarre middle ground rn where they want it to be something accessible to everyone, but also good for serious work. The "middle" in product is always fucking stupid and doomed. Grok Bot is the "serious" option, just use it. I keep saying this but SpaceXAI is the best engineering lab right now and it's not close. Compare grok dot com, their mobile app, grok bot, and grok build to their OpenAI or Ant equivalent. It isn't close, but then they release Grok 4.7 and it's a useless, overpriced, dumpster fire. I hope Dot improves, they've got the models to really make it happen. But at least for right now, it's a mess and not something I would recommend.

Biggest Dots pain point right now: it just drops things that are in progress with no visibility, until I yell at it to pick them up again. Is anyone else having this problem? I'll have like 5 ongoing tasks, it will decide that 2 of them are blocked and only vaguepost about it with me, and it will forget another 2 until I say "hey what happened to tasks ABCD", and then it will sort of pick them up for another round of this until I yell at it some more. My Dot has a space to keep track of its ongoing work too, but that doesn't work either. I guess I can ask it to make like a 5 minute - 1 hour heartbeat to make sure it doesn't forget stuff but this seems like it will create more problems than it solves.... @jxnlco hopefully your dot that monitors twitter picks this up!

this is a good thread from a Western economist perspective, but important to remember that our friend Karl Marx explicitly predicted this phenomena and its consequences in the 1800s in Capital vol 3: the "tendency of the rate of profit to fall".
"Enshittification" is a sort of "safe horny" term for what is really just outright impoverishment and declining living standards due to economic insolvency from deindustrialization, demographic decline, hyperinflation, etc. You are just de-developing and becoming poor.

❌ dot as cute little guy ✅ dot as scheming Grand Vizier
I don't want a "dot." I don't want a "muse." I want a scheming Chinese eunuch. I want a silver-tongued, unctuous vizier who says "most judicious, sire."
