Alrighty folks, I've renamed my twitter account from @zephraph to @just_be_dev. Got a placeholder for the old one.

We need to retire “verbose” as a descriptor of @EffectTS_ (and @foldkit). Being verbose means using more language than necessary to express the same thing. That’s not my experience of Effect at all. It’s precise, expressive, information-dense, explicit, and clear. More syntax is not verbosity when that syntax is carrying more information. Also, this isn’t code golf. The goal is not “fewest lines of code.” (When you ask me a question at Effect Days in December and I give you a 5-minute “excited to talk about my special interest” answer, THAT is verbosity.)

First prototype → Finished product
A century before we would move from fixed-program computers to reprogrammable ones, Ada Lovelace realized that the Analytical Engine was capable of universal computation. Reading her Notes is thrilling for her awestruck articulation of these ideas. Available now; link in reply.

I usually create my isometric wireframe SVGs by hand, but I wanted high-end results without spending hours on each one. So I created a custom AI skill by giving it my knowledge, process, and examples. And honestly, it went pretty hard. The results look really polished (small details needs to be fixed manually).

If you want a decent reference for this pattern with Effect TS, point your agents over here: github.com/clavia-labs/tardi…
If the Effect TS concept of services and layers are confusing, I have a little analogy for you. Imagine you want to make banana cake. An Effect program is the recipe to make one. Services describe the capabilities you need (something to hold, something that can whisk, something that can heat things etc.) Layers describe how to provide these capabilities in specific environments (a box, a whisk, an oven in a kitchen OR something completely make do like a bowl, your fingers, and the sun when outside). Writing your code like this forces you to discover the pure logic of your system. Everything else is layer above this so it can be interpreted by different runtimes.

Continuation of my old video-as-3d-object demo Always wanted to extend it further with segmentation so you can search for any type of object within the scene
All videos are actually three-dimensional objects Usually what we see is just a small slice along the axis of time, but what if we could tangibly interact with the geometry of this space?

introducing Jevbox: an open-source document drive that organizes itself, answers questions, and cites everything (all powered by Jev). TLDR; - upload anything and Jev categorizes and files it into the folder tree - search is hierarchical: Jev picks the folder, then the document, then the section. No embeddings, no vector DB - every answer cites the page and section it came from - permissions are enforced at retrieval. If someone loses access to a source, they lose access to answers built on it too - ships with an MCP server, so your agents get the same permission-aware context @andrewlu0 has been experimenting with Jev internally and wanted to see how far it could go on a real document library. It's built on Extend Parse + Jev, and fully open-source The GitHub has instructions to self-host, or you can deploy it to Render in one click

Cloudflare have integrated Pi Durable in the agents SDK. Really happy how it turned out. Props to @mattzcarey et al. for getting this done on such short notice. It "just works" :) github.com/cloudflare/agents…

Drop what you're doing and watch these. This shit it so cool. A good reminder to stop waiting on the future of computing to come along and just get out there and build it.

We are releasing → classcad.ai today: AI driven embeddable CAD. If you ever enjoyed my OSS projects (zustand, react-spring, r3f, pmndrs), these all came out of CC. 🍻 A small 🇨🇭 team has been working on CAD for so many years, release seemed always out of reach. This is a huge milestone for us and i'd appreciate a RT. 🙏

Damn that’s good.
For years, maybe a decade, I've wanted to build a writing tool that just did a few things I couldn't find anywhere else. A system that mimicked how I think when I write. A system that provided clear affordances, features, and places to do the things I wanted to do. A way to play with my writing as I'm writing it. A way to settle into just the right way to say something. It never made sense to make it a 37signals product because it's not commercially viable, nor would it be worth pulling people off their other work to hack on this. Plus, it would have taken months the old way. So this weekend I just made it myself, with Claude's help. It's called Write_On and the short video walks you through it. Essentially it's "alternative control" at the word, sentence, and paragraph level, plus a way to dim stuff back, and stash stuff near by. Not version control, but alternative control. You'll see what I mean when you watch the video below. So here it is. Write_On.
