The Cornell 7 case has been assigned to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Phaedra F. Perry-Bond (elected, not appointed), an Air Force veteran and former Westchester County prosecutor who now handles a variety of civil cases. One relevant piece of her past record: in another 2026 case involving a “Jane Doe,” Perry-Bond allowed the woman to remain anonymous publicly, showing how she has tried to balance a plaintiff’s privacy with a defendant’s right to investigate the claims.
In a new filing Wednesday, attorney Jeremy Saland, representing defendant Scott Kretzschmar, told Perry-Bond that his client does not object to the plaintiff proceeding under the pseudonym “Jane Doe.”
In a lot of other sexual-assault lawsuits, there has been debate over whether an accuser should be allowed to remain anonymous while the people they are accusing are publicly named. As an aside, Jane Doe’s identity in this case was publicly exposed online as of Thursday night.
