Kijk, economie was nooit mijn beste vak. Grapke. I'll tell you a little story of why. There was actually a country where its leaders had a beautiful dream in which they would ditch capitalism and everyone in society would share resources and be equal. This grand, amazing and inspiring egalitarian revolution became known as "Year Zero." What this meant in practice is that many of the businessmen, professionals, intellectuals from the city - highly suspicious folk, as they had much more than others you see, so they had to be dealt with first - were sent to rural fields where they would work the land and contribute through labour to the great project of total equality. Turns out that growing crops that way is highly inefficient so many of them were worked to death, or else starved to death. Anyone that objected was often simply shot on the spot. Because if you are truly serious about everyone being equal, well, sadly you have to eliminate those greedy bastards trying to sabotage the grand utopia. You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs! Now here is the interesting part: If any of these starving workers happened to come upon a piece fruit that had fallen on the ground, they were NOT to eat it, under penalty of death. For if they did, they would have more than others. This is the sad sacrifice people had to make so everyone would be equal. In the capital of this country, the leaders of this glorious system were in the meantime stuffing themselves with five course meals of fine cuisine every day. They all got fat from eating so much. When you are leader, the concept of equality becomes a bit more flexible. The name of this country is Cambodia, and in the 1970s with the goal of ditching capitalism and making everyone equal the Khmer Rouge ended up killing 2.5 million people. There is a place in Cambodia where you can go and they will show a tree - and that's the tree where soldiers would take babies from the arms of screaming mothers and bash their brains in front of them. Lest you think this was a solitary experiment that simply went wrong, far from it. Forced collectivisation has been attempted repeatedly, from the Soviet Union to Maoist China and elsewhere, and the recurring pattern has been consistent: economic failure, brutal coercion and extreme human suffering. All that varies is the scale of the destitution, brutality and mass death. Difficult to know what the greater tragedy is: the millions and millions of people already killed in the pursuit of these utopian experiments, or that there are still people that can't be bothered to read a history book (or else studiously ignore their screamingly obvious lessons) and are determined to repeat the awful experiment again and again. Hey, it's only 100 million dead so far, maybe next time we'll get it right!

Luister, denk, praat.

I completely agree with this take related to the “AI will create viruses that will kill us all” BS. But let me add my few cents, because I am really really angry! I worked with one of the deadliest viruses in history, HIV, for two decades. I was one of the early scientists to engineer it, and engineered versions of HIV are now helping cancer patients. I understand the immune system that defends us against viruses extremely deeply. I have worked in high security biohazard labs. I don’t have a PhD in AI, but I have been involved with AI since the early 90s and have been all in on AI for years. People claiming that you can just make a virus in your garage, use AI to engineer it, and somehow build a virus that will kill everyone don’t know what the hell they are talking about! Of course bioweapons are extremely dangerous. In fact, viruses and bacteria have killed more humans throughout history than almost anything else. HIV alone killed tens of millions of people, yet today, if you have access to effective medicines and take them properly, HIV is generally no longer a death sentence. COVID-19 killed millions. Why doesn’t it kill at anything close to the same scale anymore? Not because the virus disappeared. It is still here. We developed collective defenses against it through our immune systems, prior exposure, vaccines, treatments, and better medical care. And this is exactly the point. The best way to fight biological threats, whether natural or synthetic, is to use AI to develop vaccines, treatments, antibodies, antivirals, and eventually engineer our immune system to create much stronger defenses against them. By the way, it is already possible to make synthetic viruses. You don’t need some hypothetical superintelligent AI model to do that. We have had sophisticated molecular biology and genetic engineering for decades. So how many people have actually died from synthetic viruses compared with natural viruses killing millions every year? And if someday there really is an AI capable of making some unbelievable “supervirus,” then why the hell wouldn’t that same AI make it even easier to develop defenses against it? Or cure diseases, for that matter? Where is this damn superintelligence that has cured a single major disease?! These AI companies and AI doomers keep talking like, “OMG, AI is going to become so unbelievably powerful that it could kill all of humanity!” Then why is nobody asking the obvious question? If your AI is already becoming this godlike, unbelievably powerful intelligence, why hasn’t it cured anything? I mean ANYTHING. Where is the cure for cancer? Where is the cure for Alzheimer’s? Where is the cure for aging? Forget those. Where is the vaccine that prevents the common cold? You are telling me this intelligence will soon be smart enough to engineer some magical virus capable of wiping out 8 billion people, defeating every immune system, every vaccine, every antiviral, every laboratory, every government, and the entire global biomedical community… …but somehow it still can’t cure one disease? I call that greatest intellectual dishonesty ever! At least WE actually know how to cure things and save millions of lives with our supposedly stupid human intelligence compared with this future “superintelligence.” Humans eradicated smallpox, which killed hundreds of millions of people throughout history. We turned HIV from a almost certain death sentence into a manageable disease. We developed vaccines in record time against COVID. If we had the same AI back then, would have saved millions more! We engineer immune cells to kill cancer. We developed antibiotics, antivirals, monoclonal antibodies, gene therapies, organ transplantation, and thousands of medicines. We aren't fast enough but we did all of that with our ordinary human intelligence. So imagine what actual superintelligence could do for medicine! And here is the part that really makes me angry. If you actually have, or are close to having, an AI capable of curing diseases and saving millions of lives, and you are deliberately slowing it down or refusing to make those capabilities available, then we also need to talk about the human cost of THAT decision, which you fearmongering people are going to be responsible for! More than 150,000 people die every single day around the world. Every. Single. Day. More than 90% from Cancer, heart disease, infections, aging. How many die because of AI? ZERO! Talk about the people dying TODAY. Talk about curing cancer. Talk about stopping the next pandemic before it starts. Talk about developing universal vaccines. Talk about engineering our immune system so viruses become almost irrelevant. Talk about curing genetic diseases. Talk about reversing aging. Talk about saving millions and eventually billions of lives. Instead, we constantly hear this “AI WILL KILL US ALL!” crap, delivered with absolute certainty and with this smug smile on your faces in front of cameras, as though imagining a science fiction extinction scenarios. I am actually angry about this. Each one of you causing a delay in AI advance every single day will be personally responsible for those 100 thousands deaths that could have been prevented! Because if you truly believe intelligence is about to become this powerful, then the greatest question humanity should be asking is NOT: “How could this intelligence hurt us?” It should also be: “WHY THE HELL AREN’T WE USING IT TO SAVE EVERYONE WE CAN?” And if superintelligence really is coming, then make sure one of the first things we do with it is make humanity biologically damn near impossible to kill.
Well, I’d add one more with myself, as one with a PhD in biology and another PhD in AI and now working in both, to make n=2. Generating a hypothetical genome blueprint of a virus from LLM versus generating a true virus are completely different things. It is either an intentional attention-harnessing lie or true ignorance. The material, the manufacturing, and actual biological viability of paper-to-physical transformation is the gap you need to close. Like drawing a design of a chip or A-bomb, versus actually make one. You have, and can add more checkpoints and guardrails all over this long chain of paper to physical transformation. Fear mongering is not well founded, and mostly emotional manipulation.

An update on FSD Supervised in Europe FSD is currently approved in five EU countries (NL, DK, BE, EE, LT), used by >70k customers for over 1 million km per day, and is 4.1x less likely to get into a crash compared to manual driving, measured across 100 million km on public EU roads. Leading up to a potential EU-wide approval vote for FSD Supervised on October 6th, 2026, we have decided to open-source one of the key pieces of evidence used to support the Netherlands approval. As a reminder, we adjusted the FSD design to be compliant with existing regulation (UN-R-171 DCAS) but requested an exemption for certain behaviors via the EU Article 39 procedure. The following dashboard is evidence of safety for those exemptions. This exact dashboard was shared with all EU Member States in April 2026, shortly after RDW’s approval, and all data presented is from before that date. tesla.com/fsd-evidence-dashb… European countries recorded 19,400 road deaths in 2025. That's around 53 deaths/day, with the vast majority of these crashes attributed to human error. These deaths are largely preventable with technology we have today. FSD Supervised is already saving lives where it’s approved – yet in much of Europe, that safety benefit remains locked behind bureaucracy.

Ik antwoord droogjes: 'Thank you Thami, but in the meantime, I hope you change your culture.' I want to be argued with, not condescended to.' Kortom, ik blijf erbij dat iedereen die ik ontmoet verdient, to be argued with, not to be condescended to.

Of schuld.

I gave @GeminiApp Flash 3.6 (High) another chance today. It's supposed to have a 1M tokens context window but I found it straight up ignores stated requirements in written plans, ignores reported issues and gets even a bit deffensive ("It's not working because you didn't restart your server") Only when telling it such things are nonsense it starts to look for the real issues, only to then half-ass the work. It wasn't all lost but it took @grok build another couple of passes to clean it up. The stated requirements were cool enough to not throw it all away :-)

Milton Friedman: “Don’t look at what the proponents of one system or another say are their intentions. Look at what the actual results are.” “Socialism, which means government ownership and operation of means of production, has appealed to high-minded, fine people, people of idealistic views, because of the supposed objectives of socialism.” “But you have to ask the question: does the system, no matter what its proponents say, produce those results? Once you look at the results, it’s crystal clear that they do not. Social injustice is clearly greatest where you have central control.”

Be warned: Rant incoming! I am so cheesed off by people whining on and on about Elon's broken promises and Elon's timelines and Elon's this and Elon's that. Get real! You were lazy and greedy and impatient. You chose to get sucked into endless hype cycles instead of doing the grunt work and doing your own research. You didn't take the trouble to widen your data and signal catchment area. You chose to go headlong into a long-term investment with a near-term mindset. You didn't bother to consider the geopolitical and macro overhang. You didn't stop to consider the mind-numbing challenges of developing and deploying deeply transformative technologies. If you had, you would know that these tsunamis of transformation happen slowly. They're laboriously slow. It's incredible hard to do what Elon and his team are doing. It is friggin' rocket science. So stop whining. Stop these stupid conspiracy theories. Stop attacking each other. Take responsibility. Do the hard work. Do you research. Educate yourself. And for God's sake, stop being a sucker for the endless hype. Grow up. There. I said it.

🚨 Dutch Minister Karremans just delivered a masterclass defense in Parliament against the latest Reuters/ETSC narrative. While critics try to sow doubt with old Tesla marketing stats, the RDW’s independent work speaks for itself: ✅ 1.8+ million km of real-world testing on European roads. ✅ 1,000+ rigorous scenario tests on test tracks. ✅ Own RDW test equipment + data collection, not relying on Tesla’s self published figures. ✅ Extreme weather, complex urban traffic, highways. All independently validated ✅ Nearly 40,000 Dutch Teslas with FSD Supervised have already driven 24 million km with no notable incidents. The minister made it crystal clear: the RDW did its own thorough research. Safety comes first. Period. This is what evidence based regulation looks like. The Netherlands continues to lead Europe responsibly while others chase headlines. Huge respect to Minister @vincentkar for standing firm and shutting down the FUD. 🇳🇱✅ #FSD #Tesla #RDW #Netherlands #AutonomousDriving #EV #TeslaFSD #Innovation
