"The world runs because of men."
That’s usually the argument when people pull out this list:
• Firefighters — ~95% men
• Coal miners & oil extraction — ~95% men
• Heavy truck drivers — ~90% men
• Construction trades — ~90% men
• Engineers — ~83% men
• Active-duty military — ~82% men
Physical and industrial infrastructure is undeniably heavy on male labor.
Now look at the foundational infrastructure that keeps human beings alive long enough to work those jobs:
• Childcare workers — ~94% women
• Preschool & kindergarten teachers — ~97% women
• Registered nurses — ~87% women
• Social workers — ~82% women
• Elder-care aides — ~80%+ women
• Primary & secondary educators — ~75% women
Without industrial labor, society grinds to a halt. Without the care economy, society ceases to produce functioning human beings in the first place.
And if demographic accountability is the metric:
• Incarcerated population — ~93% men
• Homicide perpetrators — ~89% men
• Convicted sex offenders — ~98% men
• Violent crime arrests — ~80% men
You cannot claim aggregate collective credit for roads, power grids, and skyscrapers while disowning collective responsibility for violence, wars, and devastation.
More importantly, dominating fields that women were historically barred from by law, policy, and social exclusion is not proof of female incapacity. Women were legally excluded from combat roles, denied degrees at technical universities, shut out of trade unions, fired upon marriage or pregnancy, and blocked from credit lines well into the 20th century. You do not get extra points for holding a monopoly on a race where the other half of the population was disqualified from lining up.
The human race does not run on a single engine:
• Men built much of the physical scaffolding.
• Women carried, birthed, and sustained the people who inhabited it.
Nobody with common sense argues men are disposable. The argument is that neither gender gets to declare itself the sole author of civilization.
