i don’t know how else to describe it, but there’s a kind of person who sincerely believes they contribute value by relaying your ask to chatgpt and then relaying the output right back to you i’ve interviewed candidates who acted like showing how they think (coming up with a plan, explaining decisions) is an archaic demand, that “that just isn’t what work is anymore” but then what is it? you’re interviewing for a job that’s 100x the cost of a year of chatgpt pro—if all you are is a slower way to prompt an agent, why hire you? there’s still so much value people can contribute! but, as always, they require thought and effort

Added self-contained script to download rules and execute them github.com/polyrand/ast-grep… You probably shouldn't run it, always better to fork and adapt to your use case.
Converted @dillon_mulroy antislop rules to ast-grep so that they can be used more widely. Also added the Vanilla JS and Python version counterparts. github.com/polyrand/ast-grep…

Intelligence-per-$ ratio is unmatched (quality and quantity). The only model that always catches what other models missed. Also, the Codex app has me hooked: open source, custom providers, a UI that actually works. I've not done any programming outside the codex app in a while.
Or… what if we gave you $100 in Codex credits if you tell us what you love about GPT-5.6 Sol or why you switched? Tweet it, claim your gift, enjoy more usage. First 10k get the free tokens! switch-to-codex.openai.chatg…

I don't even know if I qualify for anything (I use a business account), but that's still my experience with GPT models. Also, the fact that auto-compaction "just works" feels great.

On macOS, osascript is one of the best options for this. Keep personal browser, use osascript to drive another one (like Safari), and keep that one for agents only.
With Atlas being retired in favor of the browser embedded in the ChatGPT app I wonder if the whole category of AI-enhanced browsers is coming to a close The security/privacy issues remain unsolvable IMO - I want my AI to use its own separate browser and stay out of the one I use

AppleScript is heavily underrated for "computer use" automations.
AppleScript is the oldest way to drive a Mac. Frontier models butcher it. So we trained two small ones that don't. Open weights. On-device. 100% compile.

I'd love if Codex had a "Send Later" button. Mostly thinking about sending a message when my 5h credits reset. But also to get things done when I know I'm going to be back if I want to overlook the process. cc @thsottiaux

I know it could be hacked together with scheduled messages, but having it built-in would be nice.

I guess the main challenge is "resuming" a conversation. Tool calls are part of the conversation, but storing and resuming REPL state can be tricky. You can technically add a lot of print() calls in the REPL to "persist state in the conversation" ...

but I guess that misses the point of a persistent REPL, where the agent can go back and print / manipulate a variable that was created in a previous REPL call. So far, @pydantic Monty seems to have the best feature set to allow that.

This made me realize that Codex removed its js_repl feature: github.com/openai/codex/pull…
Replying to @badlogicgames
An isolated JS runtime + blog.platformatic.dev/why-no… would make a codemode-only agent very interesting (and safe).

Why did I just learn about "tmux display-popup" now

Horizontal scaling is nowhere near as reliable as vertical scaling. Running less machines, less processes, less disks, less network hops is always easier.

Codex was so good with conversation compaction, that I was used to running a conversation for a very long time (multiple days) when it made sense. But with the codex usage changing to tokens, I saw my 5h limit gone with a single message.

I assume this is because the conversation had millions of tokens already cached and suddenly consumed all the credits? (based on the new credit based/token rates). Is my understanding correct @thsottiaux?

I understand why the change to token-based usage. But I'm trying to make sure this is my fault (and need to change my usage habits) and not a bug. Because I used my 5h tokens with just 2 simple messages (both on long-running conversations).
