Let me tell you a story ☺️……..
A pretty girl named Joy was getting ready for work one morning when her phone buzzed.
“Your verification code is 482419.”
She was confused because she wasn’t trying to log into anything.
A few seconds later, another notification came in:
“Someone is trying to sign in to your account. Is this you?”
Joy clicked No.
So what just happened?
Someone may already have her password and was trying to get into her account.
And this is where Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) becomes very important.
MFA adds another layer of protection to your account. It could be a code, an authenticator app, your fingerprint, Face ID, etc.
Even if your password gets compromised, that extra layer can help stop someone from getting straight into your account.
But please, MFA is not magic🫠
If you get a login request you didn’t initiate, don’t approve it.
Go to your account’s Security settings and enable MFA/2-Step Verification.
Note: Every account has its own way of enabling MFA, so check the security settings of the account you want to protect.
#cybersecurityAwareness
Throughout the month of October, I will be engaging in a 31 days Cybersecurity Diet as part of my contribution to the conversations regarding Cybersecurity Awareness.
Each day, I will post a basic Cybersecurity topic, share few tips and ask a question. I want to encourage everyone doing Cybersecurity to join me by using the Cybersecurity diet to also educate people about basic Cybersecurity awareness. Let’s continue to spread the word and support the ecosystem to reduce Cybersecurity breaches 💪
