Following up on my Toku Health experiment: repeat bloodwork is in.
• LDL cholesterol: 122 → 103
• Non-HDL cholesterol: 139 → 119
• Total cholesterol: 209 → 184
All in mg/dL. Non-HDL and total cholesterol are now in range; LDL is still slightly above.
Encouraging results, but this is one personal experiment—I can’t say how much of the change was due to the supplement.
Function Health panel pointed out a number of out of range Heart-related biomarkers. A friend had suggested the Toku Health supplement. It's created out of nattokinase, an enzyme extracted from natto (fermented soybeans), often used for cardiovascular health to help lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol. Apparently natto is a Japanese breakfast staple served over rice with soy sauce, and Japan boasts one of the world's lowest cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality rates, with a 0.7% risk of premature death compared to a 1.9% global average.
I'm going to try this supplement out for 90 days, re-test and report back.
