Sadly, Ada Yonath passed away.
Her work on the ribosome was extraordinary. I was fortunate to hear her speak at Lindau in 2013, and her curiosity and courage stayed with me ever since.
I rendered this ribosome in her honor, a tiny tribute to a remarkable scientist.

🧪 plos.io/3QegRCk Pathogenic variants in the #ribosome -associated endoribonuclease SLFN14 cause inherited #thrombocytopenia, but why? This study shows that type II #tRNA cleavage by mutant SLFN14 drives global translational repression and cell death. Repost PlosBiology
Perspective: Seohyun Park, Fiona Fitzgerald, Yoon-Mo Yang (Hanyang University) & Katrin Karbstein (@VanderbiltU) describe problems that plague the analysis of #ribosome specialization, as well as ways to address them to guide experimentation in the field hubs.la/Q04gd0pG0
Delighted to have contributed to this amazing Emerging Fields consortia "Decoding the ribosome code of pediatric cancer". Excited to collaborate with colleagues and push this research forward over the next years. 🧬 #ribosome
