“Don’t use pytest-black”. That’s ok for most pythonistas. But... the use case I ❤️ for all the bridging plugins is the scientist/engineer new to Python. I can tell them “Just run pytest” and it runs black, flake8, flake8-isort and my favorite... flake8-docstrings. It’s scales me.

It might be time for me to do a "guesting on podcasts" tour again soon. What shows should I beg / borrow / steal an invite onto?

But... I don't test my code, "crappy Python" is all I write, and I'd feel like a giant imposter. So yeah, I'd be game.

all the more reason to come on the show. :) We could talk about what you do instead of testing your code. Why you don't, etc. I'm sure people could relate.

I always suspected that doctest was one of Python's vastly underrated features, but I was mystified by how to use it. These guys seemed to have mastered it: github.com/scrapy/scrapy/tre… Maybe have them on @pythonbytes or @testandcode ?

@testandcode Loved that latest episode on parameterization. Made me miss working with Python/pytest day-to-day so much.

Heyo, @testandcode -- I just finished listening to @TalkPython #178 with @nedbat, and he made a point partway through about how test development is just as substantial a thing as "main code" development, but is a different kind of development. Possible material for an episode?
