I'm beginning to realize for many people writing quality was always a proxy for substance. AI makes fluency generally free, but breaks the proxy. If you were reading for substance all along, nothing really changed. Except, maybe some substance became more accessible.

When a human writes it, there's a rawness, and emotion to the tone. There's slight bias, there's accent, there's a unique word tone that the person writing has that makes you think "Ah, that's Dominic, or that's Ryan".

I've found that when I get AI to write for me, I reject most of it as it's not me at all when I read it back. I'm quirky, slightly argumentative, passionate and Fable 5 doesn't show me any of those qualities. It can explain a technical detail like I do, but the conjunction between detail and opinion just isn't there.

Generative AI doesn't belong in anything creative. Let's establish this and move on. It's an insult to the audience and theft to the author.

I mean why not just train the AI to write with your tone and phrasing? Ryan has a massive body of work he just feed them in and voila you got Ryan AI 😆
