Jane Street made $10 billion in trading revenue in a single quarter. For scale reference- thats more than Goldman, JP Morgan, Citi, or Bank of America managed in the same period They got banned from India’s stock market last year for manipulating a national index. They seized $570 million and called them “not a good faith actor that deserves to be trusted” Today they’re being sued for insider trading that helped trigger the $40b Terra collapse. And because they’re classified as a trading firm and not a hedge fund, they’re exempt from the disclosure rules that would force them to show you how they actually make their money. This is also the firm that handles BlackRock’s bitcoin ETF, btw

Running a business in Australia is basically a tax subscription Company tax: 25–30%
Personal income tax: up to 45%
Medicare levy: 2%
No private health cover? Extra 1–1.5%
Dividends all in: 47% Hire someone and you pay 12% super on top of their wage. Then the state charges you payroll tax of up to 8.75%. On the wage AND on the super they forced you to pay. Victoria still charges a COVID debt levy on payroll. It runs until 2033. Give your staff a perk? 47% fringe benefits tax. Save for retirement? 15% tax going into super. Earn over $250k and it's 30%. Have more than $3M in super and there's a brand new tax on your earnings from this July. Then you spend what's left: GST: 10%
Fuel: excise, then GST charged on the excise
Insurance in NSW: an emergency services levy, then GST on the levy, then 9% stamp duty on top of both
Buy a nice car: 33% luxury car tax
Leave the country: $70 And they wonder why everyone's moving to Dubai.

This is a response from a government agency on the banning of credit card surcharges Instead of “saving costs”, Australians are now left with less options to cover their bills Another daft decision from Labor

Yesterday at the White House, leaders from across our industry came together to sign the White House Accord on Super Intelligence. The principle is simple: the companies building this technology have the primary responsibility to develop and deploy it safely, and to be accountable when they fall short. The Accord reinforces that responsibility with robust internal controls, independent external evaluation, and board level oversight. Super Intelligence offers an extraordinary opportunity to advance discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity. The future of Super Intelligence will be shaped not only by what it can do, but by the confidence it earns. By building with ambition, rigor, and responsibility, we can help ensure this extraordinary technology expands opportunity and improves lives for generations to come.

The most retarded thing I’ve ever heard of is payroll tax Why would you tax the person providing much needed jobs to Australians, who are also paying tax from their wages?
