Since 2022, Korea has had one of the most comprehensive data portability laws in the world. It started with banking under MyData, and now millions of Koreans move their financial data between apps. By 2027, every sector in Korea, public and private, has to let your data move when you ask. The law is in effect. Implementation is the open question. Moving data safely, with your permission every time, at the speed people and their AIs need, takes technology that did not exist. Vana solves this. Expanded staking is officially LIVE as part of the Vega upgrade! The Vana network has always earned when pooled datasets were accessed. As of the Vega upgrade, it also earns every time one person's data moves. You let an app see some of your data. That is a "permission": you choose what it can see, and you can take it back whenever you want. Every time the app reads that data, it is a "read", and each read incurs a network fee. An app that checks your data once a day is 365 reads a year from one permission. Applications on the network have produced 2,937,447 verified reads since data portability was enabled, and 1,532,201 of those came last week alone. Every fee is split 60/20/20. 60% goes to the people staking into the infrastructure that moves the data. 20% buys VANA on the open market and burns it. 20% funds builders. The Vega upgrade is live, as set out in the January roadmap. Four things to know. 1. AI models are pretty good now. What sets one apart is context: what the model knows about the person asking. AI tools and agents look that up thousands of times a day. Every one of those lookups is your data moving. That is data portability. 2. On the internet, your data moves instantly. It moves between platforms without you in the loop. Vana moves your data where you choose and keeps your permission on record. The Vega upgrade brings that to the same speed: about a twentieth of a second. 3. Governments need the same thing. Most countries have laws that allow you to take your data with you. Almost none had a working way to do it until Vana wrote the standard for how personal data moves. It is now hosted by the Linux Foundation, and governments globally are already scoping national implementations. 4. The Vana network has always earned when pooled datasets were accessed.
