Most Democrats in tight Senate races are hiding their antigun stance right now, including El-Sayed, which is what this quote was probably referencing. But make no mistake, if elected they WILL follow Bloomberg's marching orders, even though the voters did not vote for them based on gun control, or even actively oppose it. Virginia proved that model.

ATF helps drive crime down. New national data shows gun crime is going down. Reports of gun related incidents dropped 12% last year, and ATF’s tools for tracing and analyzing crime guns played a major part in that progress. When local police use ATF’s technology, it helps solve cases faster and keep communities safer. More at atf.gov/news/press-releases/…. #WeAreATF #CrimeGunIntel

Jose Santiago Pantoja-Morales, a Mexican national unlawfully present in the U.S., was indicted for possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. On Aug. 6, he allegedly struggled with a Dallas ISD police officer who had stopped to help him, grabbed the officer’s firearm, and fired once, striking the officer. The officer regained control of the weapon; Pantoja-Morales fled and was quickly apprehended. The @ATFDallas and @DallasPD investigated the case. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in federal prison. An indictment is only an allegation, defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. ATF remains committed to keeping firearms out of the hands of those prohibited by law and protecting our communities and law enforcement partners. Read more at justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/fed….

Director Cekada is absolutely right - this is a PUBLIC program narrowly tailored to illegal firearm traffickers and serious violent federal crimes - and there’s data below to show how strictly it is held to standard. This FBI will always back the Second Amendment and support Americans’ right to defend themselves.
Replying to @GunOwners
The NICS program is managed very well by the FBI. This is NOT a secret program. I publicly issued the policy governing and narrowing ATF’s use of NICS alerts in April of 2025. 🇺🇸 14.6 MILLION lawful firearm purchase/transfer checks were processed by NICS in 2025. 🔎 Since that date, ATF utilized 343 bonified NICS alerts under the new policy. 🔎 Only 61 ATF NICS Alerts remain active today. 14.6 MILLION NICS purchase/transfer checks processed vs. 343 NICS Alerts. Keep that in perspective! Every ATF NICS alert is tied to a specific, documented federal investigation involving straw purchasers, firearms traffickers, or other serious federal crimes. They are NOT used to monitor lawful gun purchasers. They are NOT used to enforce state gun control laws. My focus as Director is straightforward: - Protect lawful gun owners. - Target firearms traffickers. - Hold violent criminals and those who aid them accountable.

Update: Cybersecurity Incident. We have not confirmed the authenticity, nature, or scope of the material claimed to have been released today, so I cannot provide additional details at this time. Our team is moving quickly with DOJ and other federal partners to assess these claims and take appropriate actions. Again, the affected system was separate from ATF’s enterprise network. I wanted you to hear this directly from me. x.lingyaoai.com/ATFHQ/status/209445539…
ATF is aware of claims concerning the possible publication of data allegedly obtained during the previously disclosed cybersecurity incident involving a standalone system used in connection with CALEA. We are working with @TheJusticeDept and other federal partners to assess these claims and take appropriate actions. As stated previously, the affected system was separate from ATF’s enterprise network. ATF has not confirmed the authenticity, nature, or scope of the materials at issue. Update: Cybersecurity Incident There are multiple claims circulating regarding ATF’s recent acknowledgment of a cyber incident. While we continue to investigate in coordination with our law enforcement partners, I want to clarify that the system involved was the ATF CALEA system, a standalone system used by ATF in connection with the federal Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). For those unfamiliar with CALEA, it is a federal law that establishes requirements and processes related to how law enforcement agencies carry out certain authorized activities involving telecommunications and electronic communications. The CALEA system was standalone and separate from ATF’s other systems and networks. We will provide additional information as appropriate due to ongoing investigations. Thank you again.

UPDATE>Jensen v. ATF FACTS> CLICKBAIT. There's a lot of misinformation circulating about the recent NDTX ruling in Jensen v. ATF; including a headline claiming, "ATF is Furious and We Are Planning Brutal Revenge on Gun Owners." The source? You guessed it: unnamed anonymous sources. It's completely FALSE. **More importantly - ATF respects the Court's ruling and the rule of law. We are following the order and will not take enforcement action against protected parties inconsistent with that ruling. We are working diligently on clear guidance. Getting it RIGHT matters more than getting it out fast. That means carefully navigating federal and state laws so that manufacturers, FFLs, and law-abiding gun owners aren't left with legal problems - today or under a future administration. Thank you for your patience as we focus on developing the guidance. It will be posted online as soon as we are done. The American public and the 2A community deserve facts NOT clickbait.
