Great work. #ProtectingFlorida
Since October 2025, District 3 Officer Anthony Delacruz has investigated a series of thefts at the St. Johns Town Center totaling more than $20,000. After getting a tip that a driver was getting paid to take the thief to different stores to commit these crimes, our officers moved in. Officer Laurer spotted the suspect carrying more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. When the suspect took off, Officer Delacruz chased him and caught him hiding behind a dumpster. Officers also identified and arrested the driver who transported the thief. This is not a victimless crime. These thefts increase prices for merchandise and put customers and employees in danger. Great police work, a valuable tip, and teamwork helped bring this investigation to a close.

“ Taking care of our community starts with taking care of our own.” This is the role of a Sheriff. Thank you, @MiamiDade_SO and Sheriff Rosie, for all you do.
Investing in the well-being of those who serve our community. 💙 Today, we highlighted the continued expansion of MDSO’s Employee Mental Wellness Office and our eTMS treatment program, an innovative, non-invasive option that maps brain patterns and uses magnetic stimulation to target specific areas of the brain. Since introducing eTMS to our workforce in October 2025, personnel utilizing the program have reported improvements in overall mental well-being and sleep quality. The treatment is also being used alongside mental health counseling to support those experiencing ongoing stressors or trauma-related reactions. Because taking care of our community starts with taking care of our own. #MDSOwellness

We join @JSOPIO in saying THANK YOU to Officer Lindsey Shaw for showing calm, patience and empathy in helping this citizen in need.
Sometimes, the most important thing an officer can do is simply stay and talk. On Sunday, April 26, Officer Lindsey Shaw responded to a call that a woman was standing on the edge of a bridge in the New Kings Road area. The woman was threatening to take her own life. Officers Shaw began speaking with the woman, trying to get her to come to the other side of the barrier. At first, the woman refused, admitting she didn’t trust police officers. We have changed the woman's voice to protect her privacy. Officer Shaw didn’t stop the conversation. Over the hour long interaction, the relationship between Officer Shaw and the woman shifted from officer and person in need to just two people sharing their favorite superheroes. It was in that moment when Officer Shaw was speaking to the woman from her heart that the woman decided to climb back over the barrier. We are proud to share Officer Shaw was recognized this morning as our Police Officer of the Month. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, free and confidential help is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988.

This Suicide Prevention Month, we recognize the importance of supporting the men and women who serve Florida's communities. Deputies often face exposure to traumatic events, chronic stress, and long hours, all of which can impact mental health over time. Across Florida, sheriffs' offices are helping break the stigma around seeking help for deputies and their families. Agencies are also implementing innovative programs to better support both deputy wellness and community safety. Learn more about the challenges deputies face, warning signs to watch for, and the resources available to support those behind the badge: flsheriffs.org/blog/entry/me… If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for 24/7 support.

Life after incarceration has a greater chance of success when people are given tools to make the most of their second chance. Congratulations to these inmates who are embracing opportunities from @WCSOFL for education and job training so they are better prepared for what comes next. Programs like this are good for the entire community.
"My wife is allergic to bee stings and was stung and went into anaphylactic shock. I called 911, and one of your deputies arrived at our house before the fire department and paramedics. I wanted to let the Sheriff and @WCSOFL Deputy Katrina Cain's supervisor know what a wonderful job she did. She was calm, competent, and professional. My wife was taken to the ER at Sacred Heart in Miramar and recovered fully as a result of the care she received from Walton County personnel. Please pass along our thanks again to Deputy Cain. Thank you!" -D. Bennett

Florida Sheriffs Association retweeted
I joined the @FLSheriffs on FSAcast to talk about Amendment 3, what it could mean for property taxes, local government, public safety, and essential services. I’ve spent a lot of time digging into this, but I’m not asking anyone to take my word for it. Listen to the conversation and tell me where you think I’m wrong. Challenge the assumptions. Challenge the numbers. Challenge the conclusions. If there’s a better argument or better evidence, I want to hear it. Floridians deserve a serious debate about the tradeoffs, let’s hear your thoughts. flsheriffs.org/podcast/entry…

Celebrating our forensic science professionals across our 67 Sheriffs offices this week. They are an important part of our teams as they bring science to help solve crimes.
Each year we celebrate National Forensic Science Week, to show our appreciation for the men and women behind the scenes – and inside the crime scenes – whose work and dedication can make the difference between solving a crime, or not. This year the week of September 20-26 is dedicated to them. We are excited to share some videos with you this week featuring our Forensics Investigators and Forensic Latent Print Analysts as they show you the science behind the scenes. Many, many criminal cases have been solved by the members of the Identification Section and Forensics Unit. We truly would not have the 54-year low crime rate that we do without their dedication, professionalism, and expertise. If you’re interested in a very interesting and rewarding career helping solve crimes and ensuring the bad guys go to jail, check out our recruiting website joinpolkso.com. #PolkSheriff #ForensicScience
