Hi, @IntlCrimCourt, this is a violation of the Rome Statute. Why haven’t you taken action to protect Palestinian children when the perpetrator isn’t Israel?
The two youngest Palestinian child soldiers so far to have died in the October 7 War appear to be this 13-year-old and this 14-year-old. They join 29 other deceased Gazan child soldiers that have been confirmed so far. 🧵

The U.S. has 989 billionaires. And 23.8 million millionaires. (That’s more than 24,000x the number of billionaires.)
I'd rather have an economy that makes 1,000 millionaires than 1 billionaire.

I've tweeted before about how there was a shift around 2005-10 within the conservative legal movement away from originalism being just one of several approaches to being the one default approach. Justice Alito's 2006 confirmation hearings are an interesting example. 🧵

I think the shift—in terms of what *a nominee* would be willing to say opposed to, like, a law student at the Mayflower—was in 2013 with the nuclear option. Grassley’s rumored-at-the-time “Justice Bill Pryor” threat to Reid was permission to come out of the closet.
Replying to @OrinKerr
Anyway, at some point between 2005 and 2010 that shifted, for whatever reason, and it became just standard that a conservative would be expected to be an originalist. /end

Rees-Mogg: "I'm very surprised you're verging on defending Hitler." Excellent. Saying it straight to Carlson’s face, so there can be no ambiguity.
🚨🚨 Tucker Carlson insists three times that Hitler "did not want to go to war with the UK," and twice demands that Jacob Rees-Mogg "acknowledge" it. Hitler "didn't want war" with Britain the way a mugger doesn't want a fight with his victim. He wanted Britain to stand aside while he took Europe. Britain publicly guaranteed Poland's independence in March 1939. Hitler invaded Poland anyway. Rees-Mogg: "I'm very surprised you're verging on defending Hitler." Carlson sarcastically remarks that he is a secret Nazi, then clarifies that he is neither a secret Nazi nor a public Nazi.

Got my hands on an IRGC instructor training package for the IRGC/Basij terrorist apparatus which contains 2,521 files, including 266 presentations, 122 PDFs, 207 Word documents and 342 videos. The material covers weapons, sniping/counter-sniping, ambushes, guerrilla and counter-guerrilla warfare, night combat, explosives and booby traps. Alongside that: psychological operations, urban patrols, checkpoints and dedicated urban unrest-control courses: The 43-slide “Pacification” presentation lists “shooting by skilled marksmen” and “use of firepower” among the measures commanders may employ to control unrest. That’s slide 24, in the unrest-control course. Same presentation classifies post-election crowds as “abnormal.” A companion deck lists wage disputes, unemployment, rising living costs and political grievances as causes of unrest. A separate 61-slide presentation, attributed to an IRGC security unit, covers urban unrest operations and operational-control responsibilities involving the police and IRGC. The Basij urban-patrol course details training qualifications for patrol personnel and leaders, mission orders, judicial-officer credentials, compensation insurance and an office providing legal support for Basij members facing problems during their missions. (!) Combat training, protest suppression, ideological conditioning and the administrative machinery supporting the personnel carrying it out.

If reports are true that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi sought U.S. asylum, the implication is striking: at the top of the regime, there is fear about its survival and about accountability for its crimes.

I hear Carlson a bit differently here. Yes, he's definitely suggesting he'd be fine with the Nazis winning. the war and defeating Britain. But what comes through for me is the profound intellectual and moral unseriousness. It's a kind of debater's nihilism that thinks any good sounding talking point is a good point. For instance, he says at least if Germany won, Britain would be speaking a "European language." That sounds clever to un-clever people. But it's moronic on its own terms (Would Tucker be okay with Americans speaking Spanish? That's a European language, too). It reduces the interests and issues involved in WWII down to a ridiculous single metric. It's childish bullshit, but it sounds sophisticated to the insipid and the ignorant and it thrills those who understand the trolling of it. And that's why this interview is representative of Tucker more broadly these days. He's at sea. Nothing really matters except "winning" the conversation, the moment, the clicks. He's embraced a kind of Nietzschean amoralism that thinks sowing doubt in any notions of right v wrong, good v evil, traditional patriotism v transgressive iconoclasm is self-rewarding. "Neocons" and their ilk think Putin is bad? I'll claim he's awesome with the dumbest arguments imaginable packaged like they're smart. Similarly, Tucker likes to traffic in the idea that Hitler should have won, not because Tucker's a big believer in Nazism. He's not a big believer in *anything* other than the bit itself. He likes the idea that the Nazis should have won, because he likes turning over turtles and being a dick for the amusement of people who celebrate dickishness. More specifically, he also likes it because the argument that it was a good thing we defeated the Nazis is inconvenient to him and his pet causes. That America and the UK were the good guys still has heft, substance, and authority, and Tucker's whole transvaluative approach is to burn down good things with weight and substance by elevating evil bullshit into seriousness to prove his own transgressive courage. Every argument is permitted and equally valid because all truths are equally just matters of opinion. The superior opinion isn't the one with the better facts or the better reasoning, it's just the one more confidently or sneeringly expressed. That's why this interview went badly for Tucker, because he ran into someone who actually knows true things and is confident in what he knows. This is also why Tucker spends most of his time talking to cranks, bigots, weirdoes, and hacks who are good at sounding like experts so long as their bullshit goes unchallenged. Tucker doesn't give a rat's ass about ideas or history. He cares about vibes and sowing moral doubt about what is good by hawking moral support for what is bad. The Holocaust becomes a triviality in that project, which in a very real way, is worse than denying it happened. He's denying it didn't really matter much if it did.
Tucker saying he wishes Hitler had won World War II was absolutely on my 2026 bingo card

What does any of this have to do with being the minister of diaspora affairs?
Tomorrow Brazil can join the right-wing shift underway in South America by electing @FlavioBolsonaro. Since Milei’s victory in Argentina, conservative forces backing free markets, individual liberty, law and order, and the fight against terrorism have gained ground. Flávio is the candidate carrying that direction in Brazil. Last year he and his brother @BolsonaroSP came to Israel at my invitation for the annual conference on combating antisemitism. He has pledged to fight antisemitism, join the Isaac Accords, and move Brazil’s embassy to Jerusalem. Opposite him stands Lula, whose government withdrew Brazil from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and aligned against Israel. The choice is clear 🇧🇷🇮🇱

BREAKING | Ethiopian federal forces captured Mekele, the Tigray regional capital, on October 3. The Ethiopian military (ENDF) and allied Tigray Peace Force advanced from the east to recapture Mekele airport, which is on the outskirts of Mekele, before entering the city. Federal forces reportedly did not face substantial resistance, as the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF)--the TPLF’s military wing—had already withdrawn from Mekele. The TDF also reportedly withdrew west from positions on the A2 highway immediately south of Mekele, allowing the ENDF to advance toward Mekele on the southern axis as well. Multiple open-source mappers claimed that the TPLF leadership has relocated to Adwa, which is 100 miles northwest of Mekele, although CTP was unable to verify the claims.
