I think 2026 will be a tale of 2 halves - chaotic start, calmer end. Political upheaval that will result in better things to come.

Gordon will make a great MLA and will serve Richmond Steveston well. #Richmondbc #bcpoli
We’re officially off and running! 🎉🇨🇦 For 17+ years, I’ve built deep ties with Richmond through teaching, business and community service. Thank you to everyone who made our campaign launch so special. I’m excited for what’s ahead — this is only the beginning! 🙌

David Eby seems to think being a billionaire is something to be condemned. Maybe he should take a look at what Jimmy Pattison has actually done for British Columbia. • EXPO 86: Pattison worked virtually full-time for five years without compensation to help make Expo 86 a reality and putting Vancouver on the world stage • Health care: He donated $75 million to St. Paul’s Hospital, described by the B.C. government as a historic contribution to Canadian health-care philanthropy. (BC News) • Royal Columbian Hospital: He donated $30 million toward the redevelopment, with the new acute-care tower now bearing his name. • Surrey health care: He donated $5 million toward the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, helping fund equipment and attract physicians. -Vancouver General Hospital: donated $20 million to VGH -He made major contributions to Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, Burnaby, Kelowna General and Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. A 2024 grant record shows nearly $20 million in foundation grants in one year, much of it going to B.C. health care. - Children’s health: the Pattison Group, has contributed tens of millions of dollars to B.C. Children’s Hospital, including $15 million for its family immunization clinic. • Jobs and investment: The Pattison Group grew from a single Vancouver car dealership into a major Canadian business empire employing thousands of people. So when David Eby looks at Jimmy Pattison and sees only “a billionaire,” British Columbians should remember what Pattison has actually contributed. He built businesses. He created jobs. He invested in our communities. He helped put Vancouver on the world stage. And he has donated millions to help British Columbians receive health care. We should be debating how to create more success stories like Jimmy Pattison not denigrating people simply because they achieved extraordinary success. B.C. needs more builders, more investment and more ambition, not politicians who turn success into something to be ashamed of and using him for cheap political talking points

Missing from this line of attack is the democracy angle: if @LDoerkson becomes premier, British Columbians voted him in. The @bcndp are sounding more and more like the guy down south who fought tooth & nail in the courts against election results he didn't like.

Food margins are actually quite low - usually 3-4% Prices on “unguarded” items will simply go up And we will have less choice, lower quality, and shortages of “guarded” products
#NEW from @KelownaCourier: "Eby promises cheaper groceries with 'price guard'

Are you implying Eby didn’t think this through?
It turns out in cutting 10c/litre in motor fuel tax in Metro Van, where the tax is only worth around 1.75c/l, the @bcndp plan actually cuts revenue from transit tax that funds @TransLink - which then has to be paid back to cover the loss. Me in @BIVnews: biv.com/biv-rss-linkedin/rob…

Translink responds to my earlier tweet regarding their on-going structural revenue challenges. Acknowledge they need new funding soon, whatever model Victoria decides. Once again, let there be no doubt a $100-$150 vehicle levy was being discussed pre-election. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Didn’t know Richmond was the first IKEA location in Canada. I knew the first McDonald’s was on 3 Road. We have a history of attracting solid global brands! #richmondbc vancouverisawesome.com/local…

Let there be no doubt there have been on-going discussion about a vehicle level at the government level, but alas history has shown us, election campaigns are the last place to be discussing controversial pocket book issues. #bcpoli #cdnpoli
Statement from BC NDP Leader David Eby: "Metro Vancouver mayors have told us they need a sustainable funding path for Translink and there have been a number of options discussed as part of that work. We will come to a solution to support Translink, but the path to sustainable funding for that organization cannot be on the backs of drivers who are already struggling with the prices at the pump. A vehicle levy or road pricing are not options we would proceed with. That's the last thing people need at a time when Trump is driving up costs. The real cost to drivers would be the Conservative parties’ plans to double car insurance rates and make drivers pay more. People can't afford that."

This ALONE could have just cost the BC NDP this election. Just unbelievable. Last thing working families need is another unnecessary tax.
NEW: (1/4) I've learned that prior to the election call, there were ongoing discussions between the province and TransLink on its structural funding problem. On the table: a vehicle levy of $100 to $150 per year, collected at ICBC insurance renewal. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

He will need to make cuts to healthcare to fund this (if he actually follows through on this) #bcpoli
My plan cuts 10 cents a litre off the provincial gas tax and gives the BC Utilities Commission the power to stop big oil from gouging you at the pump, so up to 30 cents a litre ends up back in your pocket where it belongs. That's up to $100 a month for a family with two cars.

Pacific Link is Canada's new pipeline to the Pacific, and today it was listed a project of national interest. By moving up to 1M barrels a day to global markets, it will make Canada a true energy superpower: diversifying trade from the U.S., creating 140,000 jobs across the country and generating over $20 billion in GDP per year, all while making Canadian heavy crude the lowest-carbon in the world thanks to the Pathways carbon capture project. Here's what this listing means for Canada, and what happens next 🧵 [1/3]

Wanna talk about that 20 cents, Premier Eby? 8 yrs ago, your NDP predecessor, called it the “13 mystery cents” In fact it was & is now an even more expensive 20 ct carbon tax which your govt & green schemers want to bury - the BCLCFS (low carbon fuel standard Nice try
Since the war in Iran started, refiners have added 20 cents a litre to what British Columbians pay at the pump. No apparent reason why, other than to fatten profits that just doubled. British Columbians can't afford to subsidize big oil like that. My plan gives the BC Utilities Commission the power to put a stop to it.
