West Virginia has been hit harder than any other state by the opioid crisis. Every Mountaineer knows someone who has been touched by this scourge. That's why I'm proud to co-lead the bipartisan Safe Disposal of Opiods Act with @RepBonamici which makes it easier to safely dispose of unused prescription opioids before they can be misused.

I joined @TheTonus with @DailySignal to mark 50 years of the Hyde Amendment. Henry Hyde was the first Member of Congress I worked for, and his commitment to protecting life shaped me. The Hyde Amendment has saved 2.6M+ lives, and I’ll keep fighting to protect it here in Congress.

The Hyde Amendment itself is also under constant attack. In 2019, Joe Biden abandoned nearly 40 years of support for it. In 2021, the Democrat-led House Appropriations Committee advanced a Labor-HHS bill that left it out. In this clip, I'm defending the Hyde amendment from a Dem effort to end it.

Henry Hyde refused to accept the status quo. His reasoning was simple: "If we can't save them all, we can at least save some." His office worked with pro-life groups on an annual appropriations rider to end taxpayer funding of abortion. No senior leader stepped forward, so he did. It was a bold move for a first-term member.

Today marks 45 years since Pope Saint John Paul II published Laborem Exercens. This encyclical, a sequel to Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, was originally intended to be published on May 15, 1981, but because of the attempt on St. Pope JPII’s life, publication was delayed until September 14, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The encyclical argues that work is “a fundamental dimension of man's existence on earth” and that, through work, we share in God’s creative activity. Fitting for this feast day, it says that the toil we face in our daily work lets us share in the cross of Christ, offering it as a participation in His redemptive act.

Today is the Feast of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It can trace its origin to Sept. 1683, when Vienna was on the brink of falling to the Ottomans. Polish King John III Sobieski led a united army of nearly 80,000 Christians — spearheaded by 3,000 elite Winged Hussars — to break the siege. In the decisive cavalry charge, they shouted “Jesus, Mary save us!” When the Turks were routed and victory was secured, Pope Innocent XI declared a churchwide feast for the Holy Name of Mary, which we still celebrate today!

For decades, Washington told parents there was only one acceptable way to raise a kid: hand them to someone else and get back to work. This administration recognizes that there are other, often better, ways to approach this issue. Now, let's make it permanent and pass my Respect Parents' Childcare Choices Act with @SenatorBanks.
🚨 BREAKING: The Trump administration is reportedly drafting a plan pushed by JD Vance to give federal child care funds to married couples with a STAY-AT-HOME SPOUSE while the other parent works — NYT The program could be $9K per year for these families The goal: make it easier for married Americans to let one parent take care of the children, rather than both work and pay others to take care of the children This could create an incentive for parents to "stay at home with their children" Apparently, this is similar to a MARCO RUBIO proposal when he was Senator 👀 It sounds like this would be under current federal programs, not new laws passed by Congress

“What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too.”  — Pope Benedict XVI  The Traditional Latin Mass is beautiful and I am grateful that Bishop Menjivar is committed to helping it grow in West Virginia.  I am especially pleased that Father Grassi will be leading this effort. His service to our Catholic community is truly unmatched. Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi!

Press Release: Congressman Riley M. Moore Applauds House Passage of Protecting Domestic Mining Act to Strengthen American Mineral Independence Washington, D.C. – Congressman Riley M. Moore voted for the Protecting Domestic Mining Act of 2025, introduced by Congressman Jefferson Shreve (R-IN), legislation that would codify mining as a covered sector under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act and ensure critical mining infrastructure projects can receive expedited federal environmental reviews. Congressman Riley M. Moore released the following statement: “America cannot be a strong and independent nation if we are dependent on hostile foreign powers for the minerals and resources, we need to power our economy and defend our country. We have an abundance of natural resources here in America, but Washington’s broken permitting process has made it far too difficult to extract and develop them. The Protecting Domestic Mining Act will help unleash mining, cut bureaucratic delays, and restore American industrial independence.” This legislation would permanently establish statutory authority for certain mining infrastructure projects to receive expedited environmental review under the FAST Act. It would also prevent the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council from finalizing a Biden-era proposed rule that would narrow FAST-41 eligibility for mining projects by limiting expedited review primarily to critical minerals projects. For decades, federal permitting delays and regulatory uncertainty have made it increasingly difficult to develop domestic mining projects. At the same time, the United States has become increasingly dependent on foreign sources for critical minerals and other resources essential to manufacturing, energy production, infrastructure, and national defense. The House passage of this important legislation will undo this trend.
