⚖️ How the government treats self-driving tech, by @SecDuffy :
- Innovators move fast and government moves slow. If the rules can't keep up, small companies go under and big ones take their work abroad.
- Too fast, and people get hurt, and the public shuts the technology down. Too slow, and the innovation leaves or dies. The aim is to get it just right.
- Safety comes first, but it can't be an excuse for doing nothing. Standing still is less safe than improving the technology.
- Where things get built matters. Imported self-driving cars send their data abroad. To be in America, the companies, jobs, and data should stay in America.
