Last week I caught myself doing the same thing for the hundredth time.
⌘-Tab to the terminal. Is Claude Code still working? Does it need me? Back to the browser. ⌘-Tab again.
My MacBook has a notch doing absolutely nothing. So I started building.
The first version was tiny: a dot in the notch that turned amber when an agent needed input. Then I wanted my CPU there. Then my music. Then my next meeting. Then my clipboard. You can guess how this went.
Then I hit a problem: my external displays don't have a notch. And honestly, not everyone wants stuff in theirs.
So MacDock became two things in one. Live in the notch, or turn it into a second dock on the left, right or bottom edge of your screen. Make it yours: glass or solid, tints, icon sizes, magnification. Drag apps and links in, drag them out to remove. Hide it automatically, or shrink it to a tiny pill.
The funny part: I built most of it with the very AI agents it now watches. Claude Code writing the code, and MacDock telling me when Claude needed me. Peak recursion.
Somewhere along the way it became the thing I use all day:
• live Claude Code, Codex and Cursor sessions • screenshots with annotation • window snapping • a clipboard I can actually search • stats per app, music, calendar, Bluetooth
Today it's out. It's called MacDock 🧰 (Still looking for a better name)
One-time purchase, 3 Macs, free 14-day trial. Launch price $8.99 for the first month, then $14.99. Built solo, no account, no analytics. Just a small app doing its job.

If you build with AI agents too, I'd love to hear what you'd want in your dock next.
Small apps, big dreams. One app at a time 🌴
