gpt-6-astra-minor turned out to be GPT-6.1 Sol and now a new model is spotted called gpt-6-astra-lite which i hope will be GPT-6.1 Terra, since we still haven't received the Terra model for the GPT-6.1 family
everyone was expecting GPT-6.1 Astra next week but instead we’re getting GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast mode next week
and tbh it’s better than having an expensive Astra model which will be slower in normal mode
Anthropic may save its strongest model drop just before the IPO to get most return, which might be Fable 5.5
and OpenAI may also drop its strongest internal model around the same time to attract users towards Codex instead
whatever happens, us users will benefit the most on that day
use Opus 5.5 for really complex creative tasks
use GPT-6.1 Sol for lots of repetitive backend tasks
Opus 5.5 gets it done for you with better quality and less efforts while GPT-6.1 Sol gets it done faster and more efficiently
if OpenAI actually has a better internal model as they claim and it's better than Anthropic's Opus 5.5 then why don't they just release it? what is stopping them from doing this?
