Today we're launching the first-ever gateway Security Center. @OpenRouter now lets you audit all your keys in one place, see which ones are safe to remove, browse keys by level of risk, and control an IP allowlist.
We audited our own OpenRouter account and found 1,000+ active API keys for 85 employees. Many hadn’t been used in months. 🫣 So we built the Security Center. It shows every key across your workspaces and flags which ones are risky and why. You can disable, archive, or cap up to 500 at once.

It's amazing how much I work for the agent vs. the agent working for me. I'm running around getting credentials, carefully following instructions modifying a json file, letting it know when certain things have been completed. I'm the intern.

Lots of talk about task routing based on difficulty. Not enough talk about task routing based on cost of being wrong.

If you watch the wizard of oz and sync up the third roar of the lion to the first “doo doo doo doo doot!” of Darude’s Sandstorm, then you are in for 7 minutes and 26 seconds of pretty substantial confusion.

We at OpenRouter have determined that if it's slop, but it's actually pretty good, it is slap.

The intelligence overhang is massive. When the next generation of harnesses/agents show up which can take advantage of today’s frontier model capabilities, we will see rapid acceleration in inference spend.

the provider operations team at openrouter is absolutely cooking on automations. 727 new endpoints added in august alone, 23 endpoints a day! our systems allow 75+ providers to self serve onboard their endpoints onto our platform (gated on quality and functionality tests)

Gmail on iOS crashes after an email thread gets ~50+ replies long. Things you learn when working on a large deal with lots of lawyers!

Once in a while it's something clever, but almost always the solution is "sit at your desk and work hard".

Very excited :) Nik is the real deal!
I'm excited to share that after an incredibly fulfilling 6.5 years of building @tryramp, I've joined @OpenRouter as VP of Engineering. The world is multi-modal and multi-model — and it's only getting more so.

Thrilled to share this! The next wave of digital growth will come from AI builders. Stripe and OpenRouter share the same DNA of creating beloved tools for developers and entrepreneurs. I'm grateful for the continued trust that hobbyists, developers, enterprises, and researchers put in us. Our growth has been incredible, and Stripe is the perfect partner to help us accelerate from here. As we scale our global platform, we can benefit from Stripe’s engineering excellence and infrastructure. There is also no one better at managing fraud and abuse; something we believe will only become more challenging for AI companies to address. And of course we are both neutral platforms on top of complex, fragmented ecosystems, who work hard to make our partners successful. There are almost no companies on earth we would have considered selling to; our commitment to high-taste APIs, to making it easy to build in a complex domain, and to neutrality means the natural set of acquirers is vanishingly small. Additionally, we are having a heck of a good time building the company. The only way we would do this is if we thought we could do more together, and make better products for our customers. That’s our promise now: That nothing will change about OpenRouter, except a step up in velocity, and quality. Can’t wait!
OpenRouter is joining Stripe: stripe.com/newsroom/news/str…. As anyone who uses it knows, @OpenRouter is a truly delightful developer tool. It is by far the best way to use new models and manage multiple inference providers. OpenRouter is also playing an increasingly important role: in the future, every business will have to manage both revenue flows and token flows. OpenRouter is the world's leading token marketplace, helping businesses effectively allocate the new currency of intelligence capital. We think that there's a lot to build together.

If I were making a foundation model, I would do some light post-training to make it say "we" instead of "I" in it's CoT, just to freak people out.

According to the model card, Gemini 3.7 Flash has the highest score ever on the GDP.pdf benchmark by a wide margin. The Flash family continue to dominate for visual understanding and multi-modal inputs. Whenever I speak with customers who are building agents that ingest data like e.g. schematics, blueprints, diagrams -- they are all using Gemini models. If that sounds like you, try Flash 3.7 on @OpenRouter - it's half off the introductory price for the next two weeks.

I've just asked a variety of AI models to take a first pass edit on some dictated notes, and it seems that today's models are worse at writing prose than ever before, and incapable of adhering to any semblance of a style a human would find acceptable. My preferred writing style comes from the incredible book "Clear and Simple as the Truth". A central, unambiguous tenant of the "classic style" described therein is that writing is a window: the language should expose the truth of the thing being described, and never refer to itself. "As we will see", "the point is", "this document describes" -- all to be avoided. In spite of very explicit prompting, multiple frontier AI models come back with prose that contains phrases like "The sections below describe...", etc. Unbelievable.

Working on a side project. I think it's ambitious and complex. Was using a combo of Opus 5 and Fable. Going great. One-shotting features all over the place. Realized just now I've been using Sonnet the whole time. Intelligence saturation is real!
