I got into tech when I was 19. After my parents literally did everything in their power to keep me from leaving them and going to university. I started making 6 figures at 21. I joined the Stack Overflow podcast at 21. I took my first flight at 21 to MC a conference in Salt Lake City. I started working at my first big tech company at 22. Total comp over 200k. I gave my first keynote talk at 22 in Berlin. I started working at another big tech company 2.5 years later at 25 Throughout all this I experience unimaginable hardship and I worked through every single obstacle with the help of my friends in and out of the industry, my network, my sister and my therapist. Now, at 26 I’m finally honoring 18 yo me by going to college and getting my Computer Science degreeπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή The money I made and invested is allowing me to take the time to do this now and I couldn’t be more proud of myself😭🫢🏾

your brain will never believe you are capable of doing hard and great things until you repeatedly do hard things and survive the hard outcomes. this is how you train your brain and how neuroplasticity works.

AI psychosis folks should take a basic introductory course on ML. It feels like magic until you learn the fundamentals. If you believe a model is conscious, or that it builds an invariant underlying structure to model the real world, you haven't understood any of it.

I just can’t believe they actually believe this lol. Like they have to be trying to convince the public of this for some material gain but please tell me they don’t actually think ai is conscious and can feel
What is disturbing is people building machines (LLMs) lobbying for β€œconsciousness”. Machines are tools we humans we create for us. An LLM is as conscious as my screwdriver, lawn mower or smartphone is - all tools we build to do X or Y. Damning Ant founder thinks like this?!

I’d like to be a TA hehehe
Talked to a Stanford prof last night who told me that AI has led to students all acing all the homeworks, never showing up to office hours, and then failing the final exams in-person. So in response the department is changing the TA's purpose, by eliminating office hours and requiring students meet with TAs 1:1 and walking them through each coding assignment to demonstrate they actually understand what's going on in the code.

I watched a video essay made by a millennial on the movie Obsession and one of his take aways was that Gen Z is extremely depressed and hopeless and I just have to point out how this kinda thinking and sentiment is a generational problem😭😭

This one of the reasons why I think I’d make a great solutions/sales engineer bc it’s sooo true. Selling is just convincing and we’re always doing that in our day to day in the job!!
This is an under appreciated fact. Particularly by software engineers. We sell when we interview, ask for a raise / promotion, ask for training / to go to a conference. We sell when we want people to adopt a tool, technology or technique. And selling at it's core is simple. Ask people questions, understand their concerns, and then explain how when you're suggesting addresses their concerns.

I love ebooks bc they’re so convenient especially for travel but having physical books is so so important especially in the age of digital feudalism

Tbh they want experienced people who are fast learners. If all they have to go off is your word, being a fast learner may not open too many doors for you nowadays
Fast learners are now more valuable than experienced people.

If you don’t have any industry experience, play HEAVILY into being a fast learner and have work to back up your claims

I'm hiring 50 staff software engineers this month to join our team at g2i.ai. You'll work with top frontier labs doing evals/creating datasets. $200 - $300 /hr. Remote. The work is not easy and it's tedious, but pays well. Apply here: jobs.ashbyhq.com/g2i/becdfa7…
Community note
The job is for a ~2-week contract AI evaluation gig at $100-300/hr as a contractor, not permanent full-time staff positions joining the team. jobs.ashbyhq.com/g2i/becdfa73-a… g2i.ai/for-talent

Genuinely gen ai is good for coding bc it’s a very pattern based practice and even then, you’ll run into nuance it can’t handle. When it comes to answering complex questions, you can’t expect it to give you solid answers. We don’t realize how complex spoken language and human nuance is
Are people seriously just now realizing all that generative AI does is predict the next most likely word based on statistical patterns? It’s not some knowledge database at all

And coding is very complex and intricate but so is human language and I’d say even more so!!

Applying for college was so nerve wracking for me and I kept wondering why it was so anxiety inducing and then I realized I’m legitimately the first person in my family to do so😭😭

This whole thing stinks Every quote tweet is paid for and every reply is from a bot. There is no chance 48% of people think this is a real person. 48% of grandmas?
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Community note
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

One of these days I’m gonna get back in a podcast. It’s the thing I miss the most tbh. I genuinely love interviewing folks in the industry. I think if I could have my own podcast, I’d interview people in different roles to find out what their day to day is like

I hate that this sentiment is being pushed and they’re trying to be slick about it. LLMs will never be sentient but convincing that they are means we’ll be using them to replace human labor even more which is wildly dangerous
Believing LLMs feel pain implies that GPUs are alive and that the process of matrix multiplication is equivalent of thought. That's absurd.

Just today I saw a company pushing having conversations with life like ai. Imagine if someone uses this instead of therapy. We already have concrete examples of how dangerous this is but they’re still trying to push this further
