Much made of "iPhone face" but interesting that this work specifically has the Hollywood "visible male facelift" jaw & neck - Newsom, Bryan Johnson, Michael Douglas - a male Housewives face, signaling success, wealth, self-investment, but not necessarily vigor or beauty.
The statue of Prometheus is finally finished. It was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase. It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this. People of the West, we have lived through an era devoid of dreams, devoid of destiny. But the time has come to reclaim our dream of antiquity. In a few months, we will start building a new city. It will be the most magnificent city in all of history. After all, the great dream of the West has always been to rebuild Rome. Come walk beside us in this endeavor. The world is waiting.

>look at notifications >200 "people" followed me >look at their profiles >alot/all are locked profiles >they all follow far more than follow them (1000/1) >they have names like "Mukesh Gandhi" >they'll soon all unfollow me >this tells the algo I'm a bad boy >mute and block 150 of them by hand >this tells the algo they unfollowed me >algo thinks I'm a bad boy
For many months something very odd has been happening to my account, culminating in my being totally rejected for the original creator program after being made to wait for over three weeks. I've long suspected someone at Twitter has their finger on the scale, and now I'm convinced. A couple of months ago I gained 50k followers overnight, unexpectedly. For the better part of a year, maybe longer, I'd barely gained any followers, even though my analytics told me I was gaining hundreds a day. After this recent explosion, every single day I've lost at least a hundred followers. We all know what effect this has: it tells the algorithm to hide you, and that's exactly what's been happening. Other accounts I've spoken to tell me they've seen similar things happen: a huge influx of followers, then a gradual falloff that effectively makes them invisible. So why is this happening? I've spoken to Premium Support and received no help whatsoever. Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter was supposed to guarantee freedom of speech, but in many ways, we've substituted an overt form of censorship that could be understood and accepted--a ban could come at any second--with a much more insidious form that also, in the case of the new rewards program, seems to allow great latitude for individual engineers to really mess with you if they don't like you. Of course we all know what should have been done to prevent the rampant scamming. @elonmusk

Weird phenomenon where most explicitly RW art is shit, so we end up with a form of DEI for “based” artists. This is, objectively, not a very beautiful statue. Yet because it’s “cool” and “Promethean” and “right-wing,” we all have to clap like trained seals.

the garishness of their statues make so much sense when you realize they’re Iranian
I kinda feel bad for the guy who manages the Atelier Missor account. In my head it’s like a dude at a desk sitting in a Herman Miller Aeron doing social media management but they still make him wear the overalls and canvas shirt and boots. The other guys look over after moving around big ass pieces of statue or covered in dust from rolling around giant 8 foot marble globes all day for Atlas commissions. They’re all sweaty but with eager faces they’re asking the Atelier Missor social media intern in Iranian French accents “So??? What do they think of our new statue?? 😃” And then the Atelier Missor social media intern sits there in his dusty overalls and moustacheless beard and squeaks out a, “Th-they loved it! Elon s-said it’s cool…” “Fuck yeah, awesome! Let’s go West! Haha!” Then they all start high fiving and hugging each other while jumping up and down and cheering while the Atelier Missor social media intern turns around and a single coagulated tear streaks a clean wet path down his dust covered face as he scrolls through endless RW accounts shitting on their big golden statue yet again…

Money is not an outcome I need from writing. Fame is good. Fame is good because it makes people read the stuff, and it impresses Susannah. But readers are the outcome, not fame per se. Fame is for the single man. Fame is to get invited places and get pussy. So I could give the next book away for free. I’m afraid self publishing is dead. First- no publisher could sell my book. What I offered a publisher was my ability to sell books, which is gone. My Savage Spear of the Unicorn promotion for three dollars has sold one book. Wait no two. Back in the day a pinned tweet begging for RTs would sell a hundred books. Part of it is not having a new book for six years. Part of it is Savage Spear is the least marketable title. I should have just called it The Unicorn. But Twitter as a tool to sell anything but tweets themselves about tech and AI, real estate, business, entrepreneurship, whatever, is done. Twitter as a sales tool is done, and so to sell books, or promote writing in general, we will need to discover new tools. Which is scary. Or would be, if I needed money. 100K twitter followers could sell you a book. Now it can’t. The people bitching about Twitter are right. It was better when the trans terrorists could censor you and get you banned. Because as long as that didn’t happen, people could see your posts. There really is something with the algorithm. Tech captured the content and the money coming from it, and then people who inherited Bay Area real estate captured the money from tech. OK. All I wanted from this was to become able to write good stuff, and then to have some people read it. There’s nothing more to get.

Fun fact, when Louis XIV wanted to industrialize France he poached some of Venice's top manufacturing experts to oversee factory constructions. Venice then sent secret agents to assassinate those experts.
Yes, Rome was great. But the Republic of Venice is CRIMINALLY underappreciated in America It lasted 1,100 years and built a moving assembly line centuries before Henry Ford

the left still has such vast institutional power in america that “right wing” leaders will go on camera and brag about selling out their voters, in exchange for nothing but a pat on the back from the NYTimes and some mild applause from an audience that hates them
McCarthy admits Republicans are deliberately blocking White men from the Republican party. Then they wonder why Whites don't want to vote for Republicans anymore.

Note that they go after HowlingMutant — for running a humor account — far harder than they ever go after Serious Radical Posters, even Nazi types. Being funny online is seen as a far greater threat to the status quo.
