AI corporations borrowing like there's no tomorrow and subsidizing tokens (although I'm not really sure if it's a true subsidy or the API is just overpriced). It can pay off for them, but they need to lock you in. And they're trying. Anthropic wants you to use their harness (Claude Code) - and it is really good. OpenAI now launching Dots. The idea is vendor lock in. I don't have a grand scheme for how this is going to end, but my personal strategy - never lock in. Use OpenCode, hermes-agent, be as model promiscuous as you can. Use the best frontier models, use the cheap flash models, milk most value for the buck, but change providers often and never accept lock in. They think they're building network effects, but you make them burn cash and provide insane value to you. Be the winner.

Can a local model replace a cloud Jev as a prompt-injection gate for my AI agent? I benchmarked the new decision models in Ollama 0.35 on 718 test items. Nimble 9B came closest: it caught 81% of attacks (Jev on Venice: 89%) and it's the best local model I've tested. But it blocks only 63% of instructions planted in ordinary emails, against Jev's 92%. I'm keeping Jev for now. If you want nothing to leave your machine, Nimble is now one config line in the hermes-firewall plugin (~11 GB RAM). juraj.bednar.io/en/blog-en/2…

“Local models are useless” Comes from the same place as “Bitcoin is useless” Someone who has never had to deal with censorship, surveillance, deplatforming, theft, or states and corporations stopping them from what they want to do Local models and Bitcoin are freedom tools 💪

OK, this is beautiful: "I built a patcher (tools/patch_libapp.py) that edits libapp so inside the installed split APK at identical size — no reinstall, no re-signing, no re-login — and rewrites both zip CRCs so the archive still verifies. Deploying is a single adb push. I confirmed each patch is live by reading /proc/<pid>/mem."

Corrolary: if you think a proprietary app (Facebook, Whatsapp, ...) is spying on you, especially if it's supposedly recording your conversations to use for targeted advertisement, it's never been easier to check.
Everything is now "source-available". No proprietary algorithms exist. "Grab the apk from my phone in USB debug mode connected to this computer using adb. Decompile, analyze how XXX works, give me auditt. Prepare an independent implementation." DeepSeek V4.1 Flash does this extremely cheap. Then you can verify with more expensive model if something is not 100% right. It does not have to be bytecode, I see a bunch of assembler in the outputs, it's just reading the functions from native libraries.

Okay, this has gone too far. We have to pace the frontier until we can figure out what the hell is going on here!

heavy codex user here. $200 plan used to be incredible value. then, openai got so greedy that it now barely lasts 2 days anymore. got a $200 claude plan out of frustration. turns out opus 5.5 is amazing and feels like 5x more usage than what i get with astra.

nsite-clay 0.3 is out: seventeen releases in four days. nsite-clay is a web page that edits itself. It's one HTML file hosted on Nostr. You open it, sign in with your key, type into it, and it republishes itself. There's no server, no account and no hosting bill. What 0.3.x adds: AI that writes and edits pages. Describe a page and get a full design with editable text and empty frames for your photos. On a live page, press Edit with AI and ask for the whole page redone or just the part you clicked. You see a preview first, and Undo takes it back. Three ways to use this: • one 2000 sat invoice: half funds the project, half becomes your credit, and the key follows you to every device through your own relays • a different Routstr node of your choice • your own API key AI is optional. The editor, the twelve templates, the block composer and publishing are still free, and work exactly as before. Also new: • Undo and Redo on the editing bar • click any picture to replace it, cropped to the shape of its frame • the content form has dates, dropdowns, numbers and rich text • saving keeps your file the way you wrote it • pages load faster for readers • pages reload into a new version by themselves • the publisher speaks Spanish, Slovak and Czech • the CLI takes .nsiteignore, --exclude and --dry-run, and refuses to publish files that look like private keys Build one: nsite-clay.cypherpunk.today/

All AirDrop functionality is now working in @OmarchyMac, at least on MBP M1. It should work on all M1s, and probably works on M2s. Please test and let me know what model you have! 🙏 #Omarchy Plugin @ github.com/brentkearney/omdr… Cc: @dhh @OmarchyLinux
