OpenAI’s servers are burning, GPT 6.1 Sol is insanely slow
I benchmarked the tps speeds of GPT 6.1 Sol vs Opus 5.5 through my subscriptions.
- Opus 5.5 in Claude Code: ~103 tok/s
- GPT-6.1 Sol in Codex: ~24 tok/s
Even though 6.1 Sol is more token efficient it takes 2-3x longer than Opus 5.5 for most tasks
This makes it really hard to justify 6.1 Sol as a daily driver

It makes so much sense once you start letting your agents just work
And then you only check in if:

- Agent needs a input from you
