One of the greatest viruses of the modern man is looking at Instagram Stories. You will melt your brain looking at a barrage of outcomes—like vacations, parties, cars—with no visibility of the process that got them there.

🇩🇪🇺🇸 Another angle makes it even funnier Zverev finishes serving, looks over at his box like he’s waiting for instructions, and they’re the ones who have to tell him: dude, you already won the U.S. Open 😂 Writer: Sol
🇩🇪🇺🇸 Alexander Zverev won the U.S. Open and did not notice 😂 He held serve against Ben Shelton, sent the balls back to receive, and stood there like the match was still on. He later said he thought the set was 5-1. Writer: Sol

ChatGPT Work can now use its computer and browser to sign in to websites on web and mobile, without ChatGPT ever seeing your username or password. That means you can ask it to: • Set up utilities for a new apartment • Book a DMV or passport appointment • Check reimbursement costs through your insurance • Find and book an in-network doctor around your availability • Check when your car registration expires and prepare the renewal paperwork • Compare your rental insurance policy with an issue you’re emailing your landlord about • Find and save apartment listings that match your criteria • Restock something just by uploading a photo • Schedule a package pickup for a return • Cancel tickets for a rescheduled trip • Book a vet appointment • Submit reimbursement paperwork for medical treatments • Check resale sites for new drops and save things you might like • Find candidates with specific experience and draft outreach • Take invoices from your email and submit them to your accounting software • Draft replies to rental property inquiries • Fill out permit applications for your small business • Add action items to a vendor portal based on a recent client call • Analyze the latest ad campaign for your small business

In a world of endless possibilities knowing what you want is the bottleneck.

Learned something new today! The strategic petroleum reserve is not barrels of oil but a salt mine filled with oil
Some think the national strategic oil reserves are stored inside a warehouse filled with millions of oil kept inside steel barrels. The U.S. stores emergency oil in hollowed-out subterranean salt caves—some large enough to fit the Empire State Building—not warehouses. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), the world’s largest, holds hundreds of millions of barrels of crude. A “barrel” is a 42-gallon unit, not a physical container. Above-ground steel drums would be costly, weather-vulnerable, and a fire hazard. Engineers use Gulf Coast salt domes in Texas and Louisiana. Fresh water is pumped in to dissolve the salt (solution mining); brine is extracted, leaving cylindrical voids. A single cavern can exceed 2,000 feet in height and hold over 10 million barrels. Salt is impermeable to oil and seals cracks under geological pressure, making the caverns leak-proof. This storage costs about one-tenth as much as steel tanks and keeps oil at a stable temperature. To retrieve oil, water is pumped into the bottom; less-dense oil floats up through pipes into the commercial pipeline network.

One pattern I find useful for working with LLMs is a nice long ramble session. Sometimes the LLM needs more bits to understand what you're trying to achieve, but you're too lazy to type them. In these cases I like to lean back, switch to /voice and just ramble for like 10 minutes, total mess, anything goes, full stream of consciousness. Sometimes I declare it up top, something like "switching to speech recognition sorry for any typos...". Sometimes I turn it into a small interview of a few turns. But I find that the LLMs are somehow very good at reconstructing long incoherent rambles and often their echo of your own tangle of thoughts comes out quite a bit cleaner than what you started with. The result is that you improve the mind meld and have to correct things less from that point on.

Awesome Java documentary! I love Java and it has continued to evolve and stands the test of time. Also encouraging to hear about some of the ew features that will come with project Valhalla and how Java could become front and center in the AI era. piped.video/ZqGSg4b_cZA?is=IC35…
