RT @nichochar: why didn’t @steipete own and launch dots?
Patrick Larsen retweeted
yes, grok bot is better than muse and better than dots by a pretty clear margin in my opinion
Okay, so after three days with Dot, I have to say, I am really impressed with it, but I do think Grok Bot is a better product at this stage. Will be sharing more details when I can, but I think a lot of people have missed how much Grok Bot has matured as a product since launch, and really how much you can do with it. I now honestly believe most people are really only scratching the surface most of the time with products in this category. And in most cases, if you just scratch the surface, most of the solutions seem kinda interchangeable. Once you go deeper, there start to be some very clear differences, and Grok Bot is the clear market leader at the moment in my opinion. Also, one major piece of alpha. If you want to really go deep with Grok Bot, and understand more about how you can really maximize what you can do with it, make sure to follow @poteto, and look back on her tweets over the last few weeks, some absolute gold in there. Bot on 🤘

I believe nation states will keep becoming less and less relevant and that in the future everyone will be a nomad Most nation states (and well governments) barely function anymore through 100+ years of democratic baggage from laws and regulation that can't be reversed People can't save their countries or governments anymore through people's initiatives or getting into politics, because the systems are so old and in full gridlock Globalism has deservedly gotten a really bad rep the last 5 years though as we were too naive about it, but I think we should keep the good parts from it We should not take our identity from or defer our individual power to nation states ran by a political mafia class that's just perpetual robbing us and has no intention (or ability!) to actually improve society Nation states are a relatively new invention and barely 150 years old, before we had empires, kingdoms, smaller city states (kinda like municipalities) and tribes or local communities Over the years I've been increasingly red-pilled by @oskarth that nation states simply do not work and you need smaller sizes of government for things to work efficiently. Once it gets too big you get too much regulation and Kafka-esque bureaucracy and you end up with gridlock Which is Europe's entire problem right now! There's some exceptions, US and China seem to operate at large scale and are doing relatively well considering their size Anyway to get back to my point, I think it's preferable people think of themselves as global citizens, because it gives them stronger negotiation power in relation to nation states and governments as they're able to pack up and leave to where they're treated better And having people be mobile then also incentivizes other nation states (or smaller types of governance) to compete with them to attract the best people, and in response the other states will improve to attract people back Now with geopolitical tensions (like the stuff about Russia and Europe this week), it shows even more the benefit to be able to pack your bag and leave to a better place quickly is an extreme benefit now and in the future, possibly even for survival
Very cool. I’m curious: do you believe digital nomading will continue to grow given the potential disruption of all things digital that’s upon us? Sorry, had to quote to reply @levelsio :)

Every day i'm blown away at what i can do in an hour with frontier models like Opus 5.5. I didn't know what to do with an old iPhone, so I built Bluey, w/ Opus 5.5. It's powered by GPT Realtime 2 (i think... whatever Opus decided to use). Bluey is an iOS app + mac app that is made to be a computer companion. It can point, comment, and even control my entire computer. github repo below

I’m increasingly convinced that people are spending most of their time building in agent terminals, and very little time actually using what they produce. Lot of stuff is broken from the start, some stuff that worked before is now broken in weird ways.

Claude Chess Mod works perfectly on Desktop, and you can also play against Jev Just install it by running: npx claude-code-templates@latest --mod games/chess Then add your @typesafeai API key to settings.json like this: { "pluginConfigs": { "chess@skills-dir": { "options": { "typesafeApiKey": "<your key>" } } } } It also supports @vercel AI Gateway using gatewayApiKey Well... Jev is not very good at Chess

we are blessed with beautiful minds and beautiful ai thankful to live through such times.
We'll be spending a lot more time trying to understand the outputs of language models. A few thoughts, tips & tricks: Writing. Something I've had success with: Ask your LLM to explain something in ASD-STE100, it's a controlled language specification originally developed for aerospace maintenance documentation. LLMs well-versed in this language and it comes with heavy constraints on clean writing style that I often find a lot more readable. Sometimes I've tried to soften it a bit e.g. ask for "80% of the way to ASD-STE100" because the spec is quite stringent. But even better: Diagrams / images. Instead of writing, ask your LLM to create a diagram. These can be a lot easier to process, parse, and understand. But even better: Web pages. Ask for output "in HTML" to get a beautiful, interactive webpage. LLMs are getting really good at frontend and can create beautiful experiences, animations, etc. But even better: Explainer videos. The output format I am most bullish on is fully custom / bespoke explainer videos generated on any arbitrary topic. Experiment with things like "Create a 3b1b style video explainer on X. Use my ElevenLabs API key for audio narration". (you'd need an API key for the latter or you can ask your LLM to find you decent free alternatives that use your local compute). This is actually starting to work! In summary: - As LLMs get better, they will do more and more of the legwork autonomously, and a lot more of our work will rise up the abstractions into oversight and understanding. - Luckily, LLMs can help here too because as intelligence and code are increasingly abundant, you can ask for large, custom, discardable software artifacts (e.g. web apps, video explainers) that would have never made sense to create before. Push the boundaries here and you'll be surprised.
