I spend a lot of time running hackathons, talking to builders, and helping people turn ideas into prod apps. So I’m very excited that Metropolis is finally live. I’ll be mentoring throughout the six-week hackathon. If you’re building on Monad and want feedback on an idea, need help, or someone to look at what you’re building, my DMs are open, my handle is portdev on telegram. See you in Metropolis 🏙️ hackathon.monad.xyz
Introducing the Metropolis global hackathon Six weeks to build the next generation of startups on Monad. 4 tracks. Over $250K in prizes for builders. Submissions end October 13th. monad.xyz/metropolis

Getting 100,000 users once is easy. Getting 500 people to come back and transact every day is hard. As @pareen points out, retention is the real signal. 500 users making the decision to come back again and again can be far more valuable than 100,000 one-time users.

trusted testers? i dont believe any benchmark unless i use the freakin model myself.
Introducing Gemini 4 Argon – our new frontier model. It’s built for complex workflows across coding, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense – rolling out today to a set of trusted testers through our Fairwind Program.

This is your best chance, and I mean it. I would prefer this instead of a 50k hackathon prize, and you should too. Any founder coming to Singapore should definitely attend this.
Heading to Singapore? Builders from any ecosystem can apply to pitch to 50+ VCs at the DeltaV Demo Day on October 6 Apply here: deltav.monad.xyz/programs/de…

What makes a strong bounty project? @MatthewFoyle drops the alpha: The best projects solve a real problem, have clear utility, and feel genuinely good to use. Solve something real. Make the experience great. Use the tools where they make sense. Check out @dynamic_xyz bounty here: hackathon.monad.xyz/tracks/b…

A lot of the apps you use onchain are powered by infrastructure you never see. @uttam_singhk from @Alchemy explains the developer infrastructure behind products across crypto, from apps and wallets to institutional platforms. See the Alchemy bounty here: hackathon.monad.xyz/tracks/b…

pretty much this
Interesting how differently Claude Opus 5.5 draws itself compared to earlier versions on “self-portrait bench.” It’s no longer depicting itself as a human figure and is very consistent about this.

I save interesting things I find on X into an “Ideas” folder. Then, when I have some free time: → pick one idea → ask whether it’s actually worth building → think about who would use it → turn it into a PRD with a capable model → plan it with a coding agent → only then start coding

Honestly and literally, the biggest ever Metropolis perk is just access to the right people! Go to hackathon.monad.xyz/mentors and see what I mean here.
The biggest Metropolis alpha might just be access. You can reach many builders and mentors on X, Telegram, or Discord. But for some people, the best way to connect with them is directly through the Metropolis platform. Check out mentors and ask them questions here: hackathon.monad.xyz/mentors

A common response to the discussion this week about aggregator spoofing has been: just set the slippage tightly. And a common response to that has been: in order to trade memecoins and low-liquidity assets, users need to set high slippage tolerances. The current system does not allow a user to express a trading intent and get it finalized on a blockchain without multiple middlemen taking advantage of it. The leakage is because routing is off-chain and based on delayed information, because searchers can introspect pending transactions, and because wallets can sell order flow to searchers. For these fundamental reasons, the crypto offering is currently worse than what exists in traditional finance. We have frontier assets, but those low-liquidity assets are especially in need of execution protection. That's why order encryption and on-chain order routing matter. That's what we're building.

New to web3? You don’t need to start building on day one. Metropolis runs for six weeks. Spending your first few days learning the fundamentals, exploring the sponsor tools, and understanding how smart contracts work is time well spent. See the resources page: hackathon.monad.xyz/resource…

Metropolis Livestreams Day 5 was about the parts of a product that decide whether someone can actually use it. Notes below. Isaac from @TheCleanverse showed why compliance must live where money moves, Adam and Paul from @withAUSD covered building stablecoin payment and trading flows people can actually onboard into, and Boki from @TenderlyApp walked us through simulating, debugging, and rewinding on-chain actions before they become production problems. Once again, thanks to @monad_dev and @port_dev.
