If my understanding is correct, OpenAI is reducing the usage included in the $200 Pro plan to roughly half the API-spend equivalent of the old plan, while asking you to trust that future model efficiency and price cuts will make up for it.
Your 20X is 10X now and 5X is 2.5X.

Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan.
Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago.
(a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want.
(b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions.
(c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent.
(d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet.
I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news.

عزيزي صانع الأفلام، مو بس في السعودية، بل في العالم العربي وباقي دول العالم؛
هذي رسالة من شخص يحب السينما من يوم كان عمره 9 سنوات الى الان (32 سنة)
السينما لها روح، وهذه الروح تتكون من مجموعة عناصر مترابطة ما تقدر تفصل واحد منها عن الاخر: السيناريو، النص، الحبكة، الحوارات، الإنتاج، الإخراج، التصوير، الأنيميشن، التحريك، الموسيقى التصويرية… إلخ
إذا تخاذل واحد من هذه العناصر، طبيعي راح ينعكس هذا الشيء على جودة الفيلم ككل
فكيف إذا استخدمت الذكاء الاصطناعي بطريقة تقتل روح العمل من الأساس؟ وفوق هذا كله تقول للمشاهد إن العمل إنتاج 3D؟
معليش، لكن جمهور اليوم، سواء متابعين الأفلام أو مترددين السينما، صاروا أكثر وعيًا وذكاءً من إنك تقدر تكذب عليهم
حرام إن عمل بهذا المستوى يحصل على الضوء الأخضر، ويتم انتاجه ثم يحصل على رخصة عرض في السينما
ولا أحد يجي يقول لي: “لكن هذه إحدى الطرق لتقليل ميزانية صناعة الفيلم”
بعيدًا عن المقارنات، الأستاذ الرائع (مالك نجر) قدر يصنع “مسامير” بميزانية محدودة، وقدم لنا واحدًا واذا ما يكون أفضل الأعمال المهمة في تاريخ الأنيميشن السعودي
الموضوع مو ميزانية فقط؛ الموضوع كيف تستغل الإمكانيات الموجودة عندك وتطلع منها أفضل نتيجة ممكنة
وأيضاً مسألة:
“المنتج محلي وسعودي، لازم ندعمه”
هذي من أكثر النقاط اللي تستفزني وما أتفق معها أبداً
إذا المنتج سيئ، ليش أدعمه من البداية؟
لأنك إذا دعمت المنتج السيئ فقط لأنه محلي، المستثمر ممكن يشوف إن هذا هو المستوى اللي الجمهور راضي فيه، وبالتالي تستمر الأعمال بنفس الجودة أو حتى أسوأ
خلونا نبسطها بمثال: لو فيه مطعم يقدم أكل بجودة سيئة، هل المفروض ندعمه فقط لأنه مطعم محلي؟ طبعًا لاء
لأن استمرار دعمه يعني استمرار تقديم نفس المستوى السيء للناس والي ممكن يسبب تسمم غذائي
ليش ما نطبق نفس المبدأ على صناعة الأفلام؟
وأكثر شيء يستفزني هو استخدام “الوطنية” كسلاح ضد أي شخص ينتقد عمل محلي
يا إخوان ويا أخوات؛
حبي لبلدي ووطني الغالي ما يقاس بمدى حبي أو دعمي لمنتج ما يسوى حتى ريال واحد، الوطنية ما هي إنك تجبر الناس على التصفيق لأي منتج محلي مهما كان مستواه ونسكت أي انتقاد، ونقول للي ما يدعم منتجًا رخيصًا: “أنت مو سعودي” أو “أنت ما تحب بلدك”…
اتركوا عنكم هذي الأسطوانة اللي ما لها أي علاقة بقيمة الإنسان كمواطن

لسوء الحظ مافي اي استجابة على الأستهجان الكبير اللي تلقاه الفلم الزبالة هذا، وفوقها يكذبون بكل وساعة وجه، من دون اي رقيب ولا اي خوف!.

We are starting to release GPT-6 Astra and we are doing it as carefully and quickly as possible. It was very important to us that we bring it to all Plus users and not only Pro, Business and Enterprise.
It will take a few days for the rollout to complete and behind the scenes many novel systems will operate at scale for the first time and we are bringing a lot of compute up.
It is pure magic.
