What about the ones still picking up the craft like me? You still need to know the principles to be able to build great things with agentic tools. Learning is a slow process and doing that while observing the world move and change so fast is a bit painful. I still want to though.

Yeah, learn it, understand it, but you don’t have to type on the keyboard all day long to produce it, that’s the point

Privileged to be part of this wonderful journey between 2006-26. Proud of it.

Learn it if you want to understand it, if you enjoy it, not because how much money it’s gonna make. But the most productive way of coding going forward will be using AI

Really? So how exactly are you going to economically pressure virtually all companies to stop coding by hand?

That’s the beauty of market, no one needs to pressure anyone, the natural incentive to survive, compete, and make profit will take care of that

Programmers have worked themselves out of a job. Everyone should always be working themselves out of a job.

Wonderful Future...
China's rapid adoption of AI is causing unprecedented rates of youth unemployment. People aged 16-24 are facing a roughly 300% higher rate of unemployment than China's urban average.

TLDR: Once the dust settles, we will have proportionally similar numbers of slop consumers to slop makers as we do today.

I think the truth is a good chunk of coders are not that creative on the grand scale of things. This scares them. Is every single house framer/plumber/electrician a talented architect who pulls beautiful structures out of their imagination?
