a16z 刚刚领投 Conway Research，创始人 Sigil Wen 只有 22 岁。因为有不少核心圈的钱，特地翻了下他的经历，感觉甚至投他可能和做什么都没关系。
他在多伦多长大，来自移民家庭，自学工程，没有走常规的大学路线。
17 岁，他从多伦多跑到旧金山，一度睡在 WeWork。按他自己的回忆，David Holz 给他看了正在训练的图像模型，把他拉进一个只有 20 人的 Discord。那个群后来变成了 Midjourney。
也是在这一年，Naval 带他参加了一场活动，他在那里认识了 a16z 的 Chris Dixon。
18 岁，他在一个 AI 创业者合租房住了 11 个月。按他本人和 a16z 的记载，Karpathy 也住在那里，周末一起做项目的人里，有参与开发 DALL·E、Whisper、GPT-3 和 Stable Diffusion 的研究员和工程师。Anthropic 联创 Ben Mann 还邀请他测试一个 Slack 机器人，后来成了 Claude。
在合租房生活期间，一个邮件应用的漏洞泄漏了他的私人邮件。这件事后来成了他做本地个人 AI 的动机之一。

这一阶段，他也在跟 Naval 做 Airchat，开发 AI 功能、设计邀请机制、招聘工程团队。在这段合作中，他招来了大部分工程团队，还参与把 Whisper 搬到 iPhone 上。Naval 和 Airchat 也支持了他的 O-1 签证申请。
20 岁时，他已经办下 O-1，开始把自己花九个月申请签证的经历拍成教程，获得了几十万次观看。那件印着“Alien of Extraordinary Ability”的卫衣，也是他做的。他的 EB-1A 绿卡申请也在 20 岁获批。
找他帮忙的人越来越多。他先帮朋友，再组织申请人和已经获批的人交流，逐渐把这件事做成了一家公司。
21 岁，他已经在经营 Extraordinary，专门帮创业者和工程师申请 O-1、EB-1A 等签证和移民类别。他也以这家公司的创始人身份，入选了 Thiel Fellowship。
22 岁，他写《Web 4.0》，探索让 AI 自己赚钱、支付算力、参与经济活动，并通过 Conway Research 做模型、推理引擎和个人 AI 产品。
此时，帮人办签证也已经成了一门生意。按他自述，Extraordinary 做到了七位数美元营收并实现盈利，披露的服务对象包括 Cognition、Lovable、Ramp、a16z、Founders Fund 等。他把 CEO 的位置交给团队，自己转任执行董事长。
现在，Conway Research 推出了 Underdog，主打在用户自己的 Mac 上运行个人 AI。a16z 宣布领投。
a16z 的投资公告花了很大篇幅写他怎么帮人招聘、做产品、帮其他创业者融资，以及这些年对本地 AI 的尝试。他们既认同这个方向，也已经认识、观察了这个创始人好几年。
