The funny/sad thing about the current state of tech is that people wait for other people's permission to read/not read code are people ashamed of wanting to understanding what's actually happening in a system ?
Replying to @betomoedano
you read the code??

if those engineers could read they’d be very upset
on ai psychosis: as i watch engineers fall deeper into the belief that an amalgamation of mathematical probabilities somehow understands their codebase better than they do, i find myself thinking back to a time when software wasn’t built for hypergrowth, but simply to do x without inventing y. ai seems almost fundamentally opposed to this philosophy. ask it to do x and it will eagerly invent y and z before it has even tried to understand x. the danger isn’t that ai writes bad code- it’s that it makes writing unnecessary code 100% free and the human condition is such that some of us will always prefer the fast, steep gains of ai, even when it does a bajillion unrelated things to accomplish something that could have been done without changing anything else. so, somewhat paradoxically, the quality of software may keep declining for as long as ai keeps getting better. the cheaper complexity becomes to create, the less incentive there is to understand or avoid it. try to preserve this craft created by our ancestors write a LOC by hand today

IMO, comparing an AI prompt to a compiler is extremely misleading and even dangerous. A compiler is a deterministic abstraction layer, and its biggest benefit isn't nicer-looking code - It's delegation of responsibility, which, with AI, you get none of. Full reasoning in the comments.

if you don't look it can't be slop...
"Slop" has become a comfort blanket for a cohort of programmers stuck somewhere between anger and bargaining on their way to acceptance. There might be some kicking and screaming, maybe a little crying, but eventually you have to let the blanket go and update your priors.

Hey @grok, why does Elon Musk, have this body shape? What’s the science behind the “barrel chest” look?

The only sane take
You're going to have to deal with the fact that nobody knows exactly what the future role of programming languages and frameworks are. Maybe it all does go away and it's a straight shot from prompt to microcode! But best you can do today is get the most out of what's here now.

Gentle reminder that Hugging Face was declined help from Anthropic & OpenAI models when they were being hacked by OpenAI models Self-hosted GLM 5.2 helped them protect themselves when the closed labs models refused to help for "safety" reasons lol Also, thank you Anthropic for proving my point that Opensource AI continues to catch up to your overvalued & overpriced "frontier"
GLM 5.3 is close to as cyber capable as Mythos Preview. Open weight models still just 4-6 months behind. From: anthropic.com/research/glm-5…

With the amount of new exploits being found by these models, these open models will be required to defend against them
Don't forget it was OpenAI who hacked hugging face who happen to have some spare GPUs and GLM 5.x laying around that ultimately helped them root the cause and save their bacon. These frontier labs feel more dangerous than the open ones. Ban private models!!!

Don't use this Build your own software using their tokens So when their tokens become too expensive You can switch to your own GPUs Your compute. That you control So you yourself can't be controlled You need to control your stack -- or you become enslaved

Maybe we should be asking the biggest 100% vibe coded app you know of that’s currently in prod (and has a team behind it) ? 🤔
How do you maintain millions of lines of code that nobody on the team has ever written or even read for 10+ years?
