Learning about raspberry pi OS. Goal is to be able to understand it well enough for me to: 1. Understand how it works. 2. Recognise the OS concept implementations. 3. Become OS literate so that later I could use that knowledge to build custum Linux image with Yocto.
Board arrived. But looks like I live in a cavern where no fucking shopkeeper has a micro hdmi to hdmi adapter. So gotta order it online. And loose some days.

FOR THE NERDS: I’ve been asked “Why Rust?” multiple times in the comments, so here’s a quick firmware size comparison: LEFT: Rust build size = 94,608 bytes RIGHT: Arduino IDE/C++ version = 301,282 bytes Rust is ~3x smaller, if I measured that correctly. That’s quite something.
IT’S MOVING! It might not seem like much, but this is my first ESP32-S3 programmed entirely in Rust (instead of Arduino IDE/C++). It sweeps from 0° to 180° and back in 3° steps, sending "angle, light" via serial to my computer.

Well Arduino framework is exactly bloatware, even if your hardware project does not need all register, Arduino is still going to declare them, that increases the memory. I am 200% sure that if you write a baremetal C code, defining only those registers which your project needs, it will be smaller than Rust. About 40% smaller.

I spent ~20 years of my life with her. Damn near every day. The woman that raised me, taught me how to read, write. I owe everything of my life to her. I will forever live with the regret of not coming back home. I missed her last moments- the moments she asked for me. I miss her

Two of my most favorite topics in my university days were biomechanics and mechanism design. Today I don't remember even a single calculation I did back in the days but the application are noticed in day to day life. Once you know how it works, you just cant ignore or unsee it.

I still remember that I had read about how boston dynamics used hydraulic system on Atlas to make it do crazy acrobatics, and so I designed this to work using hydraulics. But Iater when I read some book on hydraulics, I realised the pressure I would be using inside these legs would make them burst.

A ticket sketch of my alma mater @iiscbangalore 5+ years old.
There was a time when I used to collect bus tickets, restaurants bill, parking receipts etc. and draw my friends' portraits on that and hand it to them. There are few left with me from 6 years which I could never deliver. Found these in the old diary today.

If terminal access is enough, you can start without HDMI. In Raspberry Pi Imager, set up a user, Wi-Fi and SSH for Raspberry Pi OS, then connect from another computer on the same network. Official headless steps: raspberrypi.com/documentatio…
