Hello @GroveKingx If you relocate to another State, town, street, or building, your Postcode changes because it is linked to a specific building. Simply use the Postcode by NIPOST App to find the Digital Postcode for your new location.

Good to see your interest level in the Digital Postcode. Were you able to find your postcode?
13
The National Digital Postcode makes it easier to identify a specific building digitally. This can support deliveries, logistics and other location-based services. In simple terms: your address tells people where you are, while your Digital Postcode helps digital systems know exactly where that location is.

Gladly @LargeF While we commend your interest in understanding the postcode digits, we advice that you share your postcode only when necessary to a trusted medium. That said, the Digital Postcode is made up of five sub-codes, and each one narrows the location further. An example is the Postcode below: RI-43-A99-xx-06 RI — State: Identifies the State. In this example, RI represents Rivers. 43 — LGA: Identifies the Local Government Area within the State. A99 — District: Identifies the district within that LGA. xx — Area: Identifies the specific area within the district. 06 — Building: Identifies the individual addressable building within that area. So, in simple terms, the code moves from State → LGA → District → Area → Building. Each part works together to progressively narrow down the location until the specific building is identified. You can learn much more about the postcode by exploring the Postcode by NIPOST App or visit: postcode.gov.ng/

Yes @Dhewaley The Digital Postcode is made up of five sub-codes, and each one narrows the location further. An example is the Postcode below: LA-01-A03-xx-01 LA — State: Identifies the State. In this example, LA represents Lagos. 01 — LGA: Identifies the Local Government Area within the State. A03 — District: Identifies the district within that LGA. xx — Area: Identifies the specific area within the district. 01 — Building: Identifies the individual addressable building within that area. While NIPOST is currently working in the postcode integration with Google map for navigation, you may still navigate on the NIPOST postcode platforms either via the web page postcode.gov.ng or the Postcode App. Watch my attached video. Once you receive the postcode of any location, use the search engine to search for the postcode and then click "direction" for you to start navigating. It will calculate even the time of arrival either by driving or trekking just like Google map. It is simple. Spread the news! @tola_odeyemi @bosuntijani @DrJoeAbah

At the moment, you cannot type a Digital Postcode directly into Google Maps and get the location. However, the Postcode by NIPOST App has a third-party integration that allows you to navigate to the location through Google Maps. We encourage you to explore the app and try the available features: • Find a postcode • Save the postcode • Save it as your primary postcode • Suggest an edit to your primary postcode • Search for a postcode • Navigate to the postcode within the app or through Google Maps Thank you.

Hello @oluwatayo_ai At the moment, you cannot type a Digital Postcode directly into Google Maps and get the location. We encourage you to explore the app and try the available features: • Find a postcode • Save the postcode • Save it as your primary postcode • Suggest an edit to your primary postcode • Search for a postcode • Navigate to the postcode within the app or through Google Maps The Digital Postcode is designed to work beyond the NIPOST App, including with mapping platforms, ride-hailing services, delivery companies and other location-based services. Integration with these platforms remains an important part of the process. Please walk through the app, try these features and share your feedback with us. Thank you.

Hello @GroveKingx To find your Digital Postcode using the Postcode by NIPOST App, you need to be physically close to the building or location you want to identify. Please ensure that your device’s GPS/location service is turned on and that the app has permission to access your location. You should also be within the required proximity to the building for it to be accurately detected. Once you are within the required distance: 1. Download the Postcode by NIPOST App from Playstore. 2. Allow location access if prompted. 3. Tap “Find Postcode.” A digital location beacon will show your position and distance from nearby mapped buildings. 4. Using the satellite imagery displayed, identify and select the building you wish to identify. The app will then display the building’s 11-digit Digital Postcode. If your building or location cannot be found, you can use the “Request Postcode” option to submit it for review and update. Regards

We can all pave the way for a future full of opportunities and possibilities. Find your postcode and help another!
"Some moments you plan for. Some moments you fight for. Yesterday, Nigeria launched the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System. By the end of launch day, Nigerians had made almost 900,000 postcode requests, with a 99.8% success rate. These are the people who carried this when it was only an idea. Through the long nights, the setbacks, the doubts, and the meetings that went nowhere, they kept building. NIPOST is in the middle of reform, and reform is hard, quiet work. It doesn’t give you many days to stop and celebrate. Today is one of those days. To every member of the NIPOST & Postcode team: this is your victory. You didn’t only build a system. You gave every Nigerian home, business and community an address that can be found, served and counted. Thank you for believing when it was hardest to believe. This is only the beginning. The NIPOST we are building is one Nigerians can be proud of, and days like this are proof that it is coming" ~ @tola_odeyemi Get your postcode today at postcode.gov.ng #NIPOST #NigeriaPostcode #DigitalNigeria #PublicServiceReform #ProudOfThisTeam

In Nigeria, staying focused on long-term foundations can be tough, but few things are more rewarding. Our people deserve that investment. What this developer is building with the new postcode system shows what Nigerians can do when those foundations are in place. This government is committed to laying many more. To our builders: the postcode is yours to build on. What will you create?
moniepoint and opay had to send someone to my house just to confirm i live there. nigeria just launched @Postcode_ng + a raw nipost api
so i built the Veriadd, thing banks/fintech should have called instead of a field agent 🧵……

It is important someone educate Cable here. First. I'm doing this as someone who was part of the GIS mapping of all building in Nigeria with the National Population Commission. Secondly, as someone who was part of the NIPOST Postcode Validation. 1. Nigeria has a problem with address system. When collecting the attribute of these buildings, address is one of the major requirements. 2. To solve this problem, the address system were classified into two: Standard or Regular address and Description or irregular address. 3. Where you have a proper standard address system such as No 1 Asiwaju Oladimeji Street, Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti, the data collector will use the appropriate column to fill in the address of the house. 4. In the case of irregular or descriptive address, the data collector will either use the name of the owner of the property such as Asiwaju Oladimeji House, Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti. Or in some cases, they cab use the "alias" if the person is well popular with that alias in that environment. In some instances, they can use a prominent features close to the property to provide a descriptive address.. for instance, you might see something like "A blue building, opposite RCCG, Ajilosun Ado Ekiti" 5. Thus cable is completely wrong here to have concluded that the names of homeowners were exposed. They ought to have reached out and seek clarification. 6. Lastly, the address system is challenge that the Federal Government, State Government and Local Government most especially must resolved and they can do that now by leveraging on the postcode system. By the way, on the postcode platform, you may edit your address and submit for correction. Thanks.

During ground data collection, we collected standard or informal addresses of buildings. So for informal addresses, they are often recorded as they’re popularly described by locals (owners name are often mentioned especially in the Northern areas). So names only appear in addresses in specific locations because there’s no other way the community and even the occupants know how to describe the house.

Absolutely @emekaulor The existing postcode provided codes for every State, LGA and community across Nigeria. The core difference here is that the National Digital Postcode adds a more precise digital location layer that can identify a specific mapped building and support its use across digital services. The old postcode served very important purposes but the Digital Postcode provides greater location precision and digital functionality.

We’ve agreed that every Nigerian deserves to be found but not everyone has a smartphone, access to the internet, or someone to show them how to find their postcode. This is where we can help one another. Visit postcode.gov.ng to find and save your building’s postcode. Then, if you can, help three people find theirs. It could be your parents, a neighbour, a nearby trader, or someone who just needs a little guidance. Ask their permission, help them identify the correct building, and show them how to save or write down the postcode. If they can, encourage them to spread the word, and help someone else too. As we build a more connected Nigeria, each of us can help someone take that next step. This is a simple act of neighbourliness. Share your experience with me, without revealing anyone’s address or personal details. NOTE: * Participation is voluntary, assistance is free, and taking part does not make anyone a government or @NipostNgn representative. *Also please respect people’s privacy and do not collect or keep their personal information. #IKnowMyPostcode
