Arguably his most achingly vulnerable since Signs. A beautiful film about openness, intimacy, self love, and the denial of someone's ownership over your soul; about rekindling the spark within and fighting to live at every moment. Gyllenhaal is a perfect Shyamalan lead; subdued but soulful. Phoebe Dynevor is MAGNETIC balancing torment and tenderness with such charm and jubilance. Truly felt the classic Night magic with this one. #BeyondFest

#PRIMETIME is unlike anything I’ve ever seen from Robert Pattinson, and holy shit, this movie shocked me. I grew up seeing To Catch a Predator on TV, though I don’t remember much of it, but this had me glued to the screen. Pattinson completely disappears into the role in an absolutely transformative, Oscar-worthy performance. Phoebe Bridgers proves she can stand toe-to-toe with just about anyone, and Skyler Gisondo… MY LORD. What a performance. This movie shocked me, made me deeply uncomfortable, and left me feeling genuinely icky—and I mean all of that as a compliment. One of the biggest surprises of #FantasticFest.

WILD HORSE NINE is my movie of #TIFF26! Funny, heartfelt, and profoundly moving. John Malkovich gives a tour-de-force performance, and his relationship with Sam Rockwell’s character is utterly perfect. Rockwell and Steve Buscemi are incredible as well. Martin McDonagh seamlessly blends humor, sadness, regret, and hope in a way that completely floored me. I laughed, I cried, and I walked away wanting to appreciate life a little more. Zack Snyder The Last Photograph strips away so much of the visual style that usually makes his movies stand out, and what’s left is just painfully dull. The dialogue is terrible, the performances feel completely lifeless, and the violence and nudity feel like they’re there just for the sake of it. It’s slow, frustrating, and honestly just miserable to sit through. I’m so bummed. #tiff

EVERYBODY WANTS TO F*CK ME feels like the perfect companion piece to Curry Barker’s OBSESSION, this time diving into the male “nice guy”/fuckboy perspective. It’s funny, scary, deeply uncomfortable, and plays like a straight-up horror film. Jonathan Schey absolutely nails that line between comedy and terror. Favorite of TIFF so far. The fake “nice guy” has never looked worse! #tiff

#RIVER feels like WRONG TURN meets THE STRANGERS with a little FRIDAY THE 13TH thrown in — and man, does it deliver. Jessica Rothe and Jane Levy are the quintessential final girls.
