This x1000. I'd also add in the case of THAT movie, it makes its aims pretty damn impossible to ignore. It's not some abstract, indecipherable tone poem, it's incredibly brazen. I just don't think it amounts to much of anything. Comprehension ≠ enjoyment.
I always hate when people use “you just didn’t get it” when someone is on the negative side of a divisive movie. You can fully “GET IT” and still not be on board with what “IT” was or how it was executed.

OH HELLLLLLL YEAH!
True news: J.A. Bayona may be returning to the JURASSIC WORLD franchise. The filmmaker, who directed Jurassic World: FALLEN KINGDOM in 2018, is at the top of the list of who Universal would like to direct the follow-up to Jurassic World: REBIRTH.

Taking this one step further, I think the recent trend of simply gesturing at things is actually what makes films like Digger so insufferable. We're so inundated with *all of this* that simply pointing fingers is actually the least compelling thing you can do. Like, I FEEL YOU in the rant, but also I'm gonna need you to dig a little deeper, pull all of these observations into a fine point. So many times, these projects feel like first or second drafts that get shuffled into production.
I think DIGGER finally broke my interest in this modern run of unfinished, undercooked auteur failures (MEGALOPOLIS, MICKEY 17, THE BRIDE etc) that get praised for "having a lot of ideas" regardless of how a single one of those ideas was meaningfully executed on-screen.

lots of people have been dismissing my Carrie review without even reading it (what else is new I guess) but I feel like I made it l clear I wasn’t complaining about the fact that it made adaptational changes, I was critiquing how the result was fundamentally uninteresting

#Digger is deafening, self-defeating nonsense...which is kinda the point, ultimately amounting to nothing...which is also the point. It's a really bad troll of a movie. A truly miserable, paralyzing experience that felt like it was designed to be impervious to criticism, constantly taking a piss only to take the piss out of its own piss. Just an obnoxiously persistent battle of preemptively goading an argument before arguing. Its centrism is cowardly and its satire of the concept of satires is painfully unfunny. Cruise has moments of greatness, but ultimately too one note. Riz Ahmed is EASILY the standout, managing to get on whatever strange wavelength Iñárritu was on at a given moment without getting carried away by it. As someone who genuinely loves Iñárritu's films...like a lot, this was an appalling, masturbatory piece of work.

SCREAM IT, ROB!
Robert Pattinson says ‘TRANSFORMERS’ is the definitive movie of the 2000s. “In the early 2000s [movies had] super bright, saturated colors and really glossy stuff and it I guess culminates with Transformers and then it kind of ends.” (Source: @A24)

how's that egg on your face?
Awww what a shame that I’ve been blocked! Anyway, @BryanSudfield does not endorse or use AI, this Ryan guy won’t publicly come forward with his “sources,” and I’d be willing to bet that the “proof” stems from someone using an unreliable AI detection tool on Bryan’s writing.

Stoked for more Ted...but man, it's just not gonna hit the same without the boys.
"Ted: The Animated Series" will premiere with its first eight episodes on Dec. 17. Additional episodes will air in 2027. Seth MacFarlane will once again voice the titular teddy bear come to life, with Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth reprising their film roles as John, Sam and Tami-Lynn wp.me/pc8uak-1lHOCy

The series truly transcended the films, and I can't help but feel that going back to that, even out of necessity, is a miscalculation. Giorgia Whigham, Scott Grimes, and Alanna Ubach are as synonymous with Ted as John is; losing them is losing a massive part of why Ted's become so beloved. I also just think you lose a MASSIVE part of the appeal by making it animated. Part of what made the idea so fresh and fun was the fact that it gave Seth's insane sitcom ideas the live-action treatment he always wanted. Now, I mean, what separates it from American Dad or Family Guy? Idk...sucks that Universal couldn't see the value in preserving the number one show on their platform.

#Remain is Shyamalan at his most earnest and sincere. Such a heartfelt and romantic throwback to his early work bolstered by another sensation James Newton Howard score. Arguably his most achingly vulnerable since Signs. A beautiful film about openness, intimacy, self love, and the denial of someone's ownership over your soul; about rekindling the spark within and fighting to live at every moment. Gyllenhaal is a perfect Shyamalan lead; subdued but soulful. Phoebe Dynevor is MAGNETIC balancing torment and tenderness with such charm and jubilance. Truly felt the classic Night magic with this one. #BeyondFest
