Reproducible bugs are candies. I like programming too much for not liking automatic programming.

Qwen3.8 Flash Next q4 on DwarfStar one shot creation of "Super Human" a Super Mario NES-style platformer, but themed as Humanity's last stand vs. AI. It took 2 hours and 10M tokens using omp on M3 Ultra. Now I'm trying to improve sprites, let's see how it goes! Things like these were impossible few months ago using Local AI! Prompt: Build a single self-contained HTML file (inline CSS + JS, no external assets, no build step) called "Super Human" a Super Mario NES-style platformer, but themed as Humanity's last stand vs. AI. The player is "Super Human" (a tiny pixel worker in a red shirt + denim overalls); the enemies are mascots of famous AI labs. GOAL OF THE GAME: Run right across one long level, stomp/shoot AI mascots, collect data- coins, smash blocks, grab powerups, and reach the flag. Title screen → play → game over / win screens. Full HUD (score, coins, world, time, lives).

[Thread] That's interesting, on HN there is a "from Redis creator" news right now (community site, the DwarfStar real site is GitHub) and somebody replied that since it is "from Redis creator" people should probably we skeptical because Jepsen Redis results.

So a system that takes some care to avoid common failure modes, or that just limits the outcome of failures, if it pays this compromise to have stellar properties when things don't go bad, it is a system that has a place.

So I'm thankful I was thinking like that. And I believe many other systems and companies that failed in between, all considered, now would not blindly buy the "lineraizable at all the costs" argument anymore.

Having serious issues to work at Redis with Astra / Sol 6.1 because of continuous firing of cyber checks. No, I'm not doing security work...

Calling classifiers "decision models" is a crime against machine learning. Those models decide *less* than LLMs, as you can think the CoT as a form of serial processing of information that such classifiers lack. Those models can be either *small* LLMs that are not let think, but instead the logits at the last position of the prefill are used to categorize in classes or, when they are BERT-alike, they compress the input meaning and project a class: in both cases they decide a lot less than an LLM.

Happy like a child! My first Apple M5 Ultra 256GB Context Benchmark of Qwen 3.8 Flash Next q4 coding using DwarfStar! /cc @antirez No optimizations at all yet, I'll try to do something later and compare! But love the prefill speed here! Hardware offered by @digitalix 🙏

Many people have opined that AI is ruining open source because people fling half baked slop patches at a higher volume than maintainers can handle. Actually the opposite is true, it’s going to make open source vastly better. Most open source projects have been dramatically underfunded. Projects with massive usage have hardly any contributors. They have had to scrape by on a skeleton crew of part time people that can’t be counted on to finish things. I think very small teams are going to be able to run very large code bases with much higher quality now. They won’t want your patch, they’ll want really precise descriptions of the problem. Given that the patch will be easy enough. The right model isn’t some diffuse committee of people mostly not paying attention, it’s 1-3 high context people with high commitment and great taste who care about the project. AI is fundamentally commoditizing software, and open source has historically been the end point of commoditization. There is going to be a lot of awesome open source coming our way.
Due to AI, I have disabled external pull requests on all my repos. Open source, as we have known it, was fun while it lasted. (It’s been 15 years for me) I will still maintain projects and handle issues.

Thinking about the Postgres 19 situation — In 2026, tiny software teams that can execute quickly and independently have such an enormous edge. They always have, but previously you'd have to worry about small teams because a handful of humans are pretty dumb on their own. Now, a handful of tasteful humans using their LLMs well will find more bugs and build better APIs than dozens of the world's smartest people acting in concert. Conversely, large, collaborative projects that require consensus between dozens of people over months before any feature can come in, and which release once a year, are going to have a distinct fitness disadvantage. Institutional inertia will still play a huge role (projects with a huge, wide user base will tend to keep their huge, wide user base), but I'd bet against that being a long term moat.

Introducing FLUX 3 Image. Control every pixel. Make precise multi-turn edits without changing any other pixel. Lay out the image exactly how you want using bounding boxes. Generate in up to 4K to preserve details. Use up to 10 references to compose an image. Commercial Weights available for companies running image generation at scale. Open Weights version of FLUX 3 Image is launching in the coming weeks.

Hey David, Gayani here from Figma. You're right that our remote MCP server only accepts clients on our supported list, and Pi isn't on it yet. You can see the current list in our MCP catalog at figma.com/mcp-catalog. If you'd like Pi considered for a future addition, please fill out this form: forms.gle/qSvUawwznWyoj8Go7.

Wrong advice for junior developer: look at the AI generated code, since you need to mature as a programmer. Right advice: save time with AI coding and write by hand "get-better" programs: interpreters, games, ray tracers, ...

I have access to a @FrameworkPuter Desktop Gorgon Halo with 192GB of memory and besides the added RAM compared to the Strix Halo, which is very significant, what I totally love of this machine is the form factor. It is wonderfully engineered, the fan is silent even under huge load, the air flow is well designed, it is another league IMHO, without mentioning how simple it is to open and personalize. Look forward to hack with it with DwarfStar. Probably I should release a DwarStart STL to 3D print a tile with the logo :D

P.S. now the slot also allows to plug an external GPU to do heterogeneous inference, which is quite an interesting setup for this machine.
