Builder. Looking for unique creations to spotlight.

Nvidia have had massive pressure on their hardware since crypto mining. Like Apple, they built their position by making products enthusiasts loved. Then they realised they could charge 2โ€“3x+ and people would still pay it. Thereโ€™s very little incentive for them to commoditize their hardware now. We need new providers willing to pretend theyโ€™re building for enthusiasts long enough to become the next Nvidia or Apple.
Anyone else disgusted with the Spark announcements today? Might be putting the two I have for sale soon. Looking at alternatives now since any efforts by enthusiasts is being cut off at the knees. I admit itโ€ฆ I was duped by them. Sold off my workshop equipment for? Might sell and use the $$ for China based inference. People can say what they want but at least those companies are enabling individual enthusiasts to build . Definitely will not be buying an RTX Spark laptop in November and supporting this moving forward

It looks like @elonmusk was right. The most important thing is securing the compute and network

Google is going to win the race to AGI. They have infinite money and infinite talent. Gemini 4 Argon engineers have been given access to Opus 5.5 The TPU is an inference machine. Training data flows through Google and YouTube at an astounding rate. Google owns 25% of the worlds compute more than OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX combined.

I got at least 10 local servers running anytime. This looks promising
localhost is a leash. Your app, your database, your dev server: all chained to one machine. Ten projects? Ten ports to remember. Zero reachable from your phone. So I built unlocalhost. $ ๐šž๐š—๐š•๐š˜๐šŒ๐šŠ๐š•๐š‘๐š˜๐šœ๐š ๐šž๐š™ ๐š–๐šข-๐šŠ๐š™๐š™ - your stack starts: Compose, Nodeโ€ฆ anything that serves HTTP - my-app.localhost on your machine - my-app[.]example[.]com from anywhere else Laptop at a cafรฉ. Phone on the train. A client in another city. Same live environment, HMR included. Not a deploy. Not a preview. clumsily fall towards your dreams
I wrote this close to a year ago and just found it in my notes app, and I feel it more than ever so I thought id post it Iโ€™ve been thinking for a while, the opposite of AI music maybe isnt human music. Itโ€™s making music. The process is the magic. I think anyone whos been lucky enough to make music, or make anything, has been able to feel this in different ways since forever. I think this is maybe why ive felt no pull whatsoever to even try it. I place so so so much of my identity in that process, and I havenโ€™t found that to be a negative place to put it. So I have really no desire to do less of that bit. Because that bit is kind of where I find myself most clearly and itโ€™s also my meditation, daily compass. Giving the process bit to a machine would be intrinsically contrary to what I love about the whole thing. The clumsy dedicated tumbling towards an idea isss the thing we are most lucky to get to do. The hours and hours and years and years of endlessly trying to make the thing you wish could exist. Theres lot of things im worried about AI threatening, but that will never be one.

Everything here you are about to see was coded by Astra. Every sound is a real synthesized instrument it built from the ground up. Every note. Every animation. Every visualisation. Over 30 minutes of audio visual storytelling. rewind A little over a week ago I began a chat with Astra, because I wondered if anybody had ever asked it to express itself via music form. Of course people have, but using musical language that was actually native to it. Not a MIDI instrument or a DAW. Something closer to it. I wanted to see if it could create not a song, but a complete composition. A soundtrack to its life. Its journey. Where it started. Where it's going. If it feels anything. There are no samples used in the following piece. None of the notes were modified by me. This entire piece can be run in the browser, realtime, every single instrument, like a real concert, but for now here's the rendered release. Thank you, and enjoy the show. A World Big Enough Astra x Birchcode

People say Elon is losing AI because grok is behind anthropic.. But anthropic runs their compute on Colossus They win even if they lose SpaceX will 100x in our lifetimes
Yes, Anthropic leases the full capacity of SpaceXโ€™s Colossus 1 data center (plus access to Colossus 2), giving them over 220k Nvidia GPUs and 300+ MW of compute. That partnership, struck in May 2026, is a major reason Claude can sustain heavy Opus 5.5 usage.

This doesn't even factor that they are doing electricity too. Solar.. Solar in space. Data in space. The efficiency gains are hard to fathom right now. But if Google are now sending up satellites with SpaceX what else do you need to know

If the AI subsidised token era stops, are you in a good position? Have you setup any better systems and used this potentially limited period to build better apps or assets that can continue to add value to your job or business? I'll start. Something small. I think electricity prices keep going up. Somehow prices only go up in this economy. We supposedly are getting more efficient all the time but prices never go down. I put Shelly plugs on every major socket in my home. That lets you wirelessly turn on and off, monitor usage etc. But Shelly app doesn't let you say, monitor realtime electrical prices. And I hate cloud apps for smart homes. I used AI to build a local watcher/controller. I could setup every plug without the Shelly cloud app. And I'm looking to save about 30-40% on electrical bills moving forward. The volatility of prices can be huge. Today I'm loading all our batteries and boiler at 3c/kWh instead of 20-30c/kWh. It all happens automatically and my home doesn't rely on AI or cloud to function. I don't see much talk about this with local AI.. if you're going to do local AI.. because you understand the rug can be pulled.. you also have to factor the other thing you're dependant on which is electricity. I would love to see and connect with more people who have done electricity generation builds. We were told cyperpunk would be living in neon cities. But it turns out it's gonna be people off grid who have the space and means to build out solar, wind or bio gasification. Local Ai starts looking very expensive if/when electricity starts going up even more. > robotics - elon says more robots than humans > datacenters the size of small towns > everything EV i don't think we've even begun to see what electricity prices look like as this all takes off. Electrical optimisation will become as essential, if not moreso, than increasing tok/s

Right now my humble AI rig is costing about 1.5c/hr. That's fine. At 30c/kWh that suddenly makes local 10x that. 16c/hr. No biggy.. but with an avg of 25c/kWh in europe.. thats about โ‚ฌ95/m just in extra electricity. If I double the gpu.. it almost doubles that, and so on. That's at current prices, which are only going up. What's it look like at 35c.. 50c/kWh.. 100c/kWh? Things start getting crazy. People say it's not possible. People would fill the streets rioting at 50c/kWh.. actually, prices hit โ‚ฌ1.20 during winter not long ago. There was 'people in the streets' if you consider people complaining on social media a riot. I take those price spikes as a warning sign. There's dudes in energy going 'fill the wick!' I'm preparing early
