He selflessly sacrificed himself all for us don’t you know.
Trump in Ohio: "I had a nice simple life before this. I didn't have to be here on Saturday night going like this, working my ass off in front of your people. I could've been home. I could've been in Monte Carlo."

Neither party is trying to appeal to a majority of Americans. One of these days, whichever one figures it out first will dominate for a generation.
A blue wave is coming, but New Mexico Gov. @GovMLG warns that Democrats are still unpopular, and need broader appeal: to Catholics, ranchers, Hispanos, and a whole host of disillusioned voters. More from her conversation with @PeterHamby: puck.news/what-democrats-can…

Check out this probably 19 year old douche. We KNOW it's a Ponzi scheme. But we were made to pay into it ANYWAY. We paid the benefits for OUR PREVIOUS generation. No one had any choice, you dumbass.

It's a Ponzi scheme that relies on younger generations to fund it

We will, inevitably. But you're going to cause a generational conflict with this "boomers have too much" stuff. They paid into it with a gun pointed at their heads, they were made promises, and when you try to break them, don't expect them to take it lying down.
Why do boomers who have pensions of over $100,000 a year with over $2 million in assets need Social Security? It's time to start talking about who should get Social Security.

Weird how so many dissident Right "common good" conservatives don't seem to demonstrate much virtue themselves. Yet they would impose their concepts of virtue on the general public.

Always watch the clip or read the article before passing it along or commenting on it. This poster has completely misrepresented this clip. Trump does not say that in this clip. And I am the furthest thing from a Trump defender. But I am fair.
Reporter: "What do you say to those who are struggling to afford gas, groceries, diesel?" Trump: You're losers. It's the greatest. If you're struggling in this economy, you're a loser. There's your midterm messaging from the GOP

I hear Carlson a bit differently here. Yes, he's definitely suggesting he'd be fine with the Nazis winning. the war and defeating Britain. But what comes through for me is the profound intellectual and moral unseriousness. It's a kind of debater's nihilism that thinks any good sounding talking point is a good point. For instance, he says at least if Germany won, Britain would be speaking a "European language." That sounds clever to un-clever people. But it's moronic on its own terms (Would Tucker be okay with Americans speaking Spanish? That's a European language, too). It reduces the interests and issues involved in WWII down to a ridiculous single metric. It's childish bullshit, but it sounds sophisticated to the insipid and the ignorant and it thrills those who understand the trolling of it. And that's why this interview is representative of Tucker more broadly these days. He's at sea. Nothing really matters except "winning" the conversation, the moment, the clicks. He's embraced a kind of Nietzschean amoralism that thinks sowing doubt in any notions of right v wrong, good v evil, traditional patriotism v transgressive iconoclasm is self-rewarding. "Neocons" and their ilk think Putin is bad? I'll claim he's awesome with the dumbest arguments imaginable packaged like they're smart. Similarly, Tucker likes to traffic in the idea that Hitler should have won, not because Tucker's a big believer in Nazism. He's not a big believer in *anything* other than the bit itself. He likes the idea that the Nazis should have won, because he likes turning over turtles and being a dick for the amusement of people who celebrate dickishness. More specifically, he also likes it because the argument that it was a good thing we defeated the Nazis is inconvenient to him and his pet causes. That America and the UK were the good guys still has heft, substance, and authority, and Tucker's whole transvaluative approach is to burn down good things with weight and substance by elevating evil bullshit into seriousness to prove his own transgressive courage. Every argument is permitted and equally valid because all truths are equally just matters of opinion. The superior opinion isn't the one with the better facts or the better reasoning, it's just the one more confidently or sneeringly expressed. That's why this interview went badly for Tucker, because he ran into someone who actually knows true things and is confident in what he knows. This is also why Tucker spends most of his time talking to cranks, bigots, weirdoes, and hacks who are good at sounding like experts so long as their bullshit goes unchallenged. Tucker doesn't give a rat's ass about ideas or history. He cares about vibes and sowing moral doubt about what is good by hawking moral support for what is bad. The Holocaust becomes a triviality in that project, which in a very real way, is worse than denying it happened. He's denying it didn't really matter much if it did.
Tucker saying he wishes Hitler had won World War II was absolutely on my 2026 bingo card

With with what they have expressed, supported, and actually done, Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are the most socialist presidents and vice presidents in American history. Socialism for me but not for thee.

And it amuse me that Rs know better than to ask people to vote for Ken Paxton or Bo French by name, so they've adopted this "Republican ticket" language. And also funny that Rs did away with straight party voting option to hurt Ds, and now they wish they still had it. #txlege
When someone who you know can't stand Paxton urges us to vote the entire R ticket, it means leadership has pressured them to do so with threats about committee assignments, committee chairmanships, etc. You know very well she isn't voting for Ken. #txlege

The Dissident Right has made a project of rehabilitating Nixon because Trump resembles Nixon. 1. Nixon was a pro-government-power New Deal Republican, 2. Nixon hated his enemies and used government to punish them, 3. Nixon had a paranoid attitude toward the media and the "deep state."

#TXPol: "I'm Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election and turns out, I have some ... I'm voting for the Republican ticket on November 3rd." Texas PAC is up with a new ad featuring Angela Paxton, Ken Paxton's estranged wife.

Pretty clear that anthropology is going to be the hot area of Christian doctrine for the next couple of decades. We are going to have to figure out what’s what.
I am puzzled as to why my fellow theologically orthodox Christians are *adamant* that the probability of AI consciousness is 0% rather than 0.001%. What is the big deal if we admit that AI is potentially but almost certainly not conscious, rather than impossibly conscious? What do we lose? Ants are conscious, for goodness' sake. That doesn't diminish our dignity in any way.

I remember when I thought Kevin Hassett was a serious free market economist.
Kevin Hassett: "The higher mortgage rates are actually a good sign for the economy because corporations are borrowing money to build things like data centers instead of lending to homeowners."
